Last Step - Last Step - 03-Jul-07 12:34 PM
Five of the twelve songs on this album have already been released somewhere else. So technically 7 of these songs are new. This is rather disappointing for Last Step's debut album, which I've been looking forward to since the release of the You're A Nice Girl 12". But the album is still very awesome regardless of the recycled tracks.
Angels & Airwaves - 16-Jul-06 05:43 AM
Tom DeLonge was quoted saying that Angels & Airwaves "sounds like it has the conceptual depth of Pink Floyd, the anthemic architecture of U2 but with Tom from Blink writing all the melodies..." I would have to strongly disagree with that statement, and say that it's rather arrogant of him to compare his music to other artists in such a way. In no way do I find it ground breaking or even mind blowing, let alone in the same category of excellent groups such as Pink Floyd or U2. If you want Tom's best works, pick up the Box Car Racer self titled album.
Venetian Snares - Cavalcade Of Glee And Dadaist Happy Hardcore Pom Poms - 06-Jun-06 01:36 AM
Venetian Snares has the be the only artist within my large range of musical tastes that continually blows my mind, release after release. I am beginning to think it may eventually become near impossible for him to top himself on the next album. Cavalcade is a jam session from start to finish, with layers and layers of sound gently crafted and thrown together to blow your mind. The music is at break neck speed with beautifully intertwined melodies, and it never gets boring. The haters are going to have to think of another reason to hate his music, because it's become quite aparent that his music is indeed melodic. Aaron Funk has reinvented the wheel by making it square, convincing us that it still works, just not the way we're used to.
Bob Dylan - 05-Apr-06 04:20 AM
It's typical for people to say that Bob Dylan wasn't much of a singer. While that MAY be true to a certain extent, his talent for emotion fueled lyrics and genious song writing can not be overlooked. I discovered Bob by the track "Boots Of Spanish Leather" alone, and I later searched through his discography and found many amazingly crafted pieces. I can feel his pain, I can somehow relate. It's a shame that music has taken such a drastic turn for the worst. It's artists like Bob Dylan that give me hope for a better future. I whole-heartedly recommend him for fans of folk, and music lovers in general.
Venetian Snares vs. Bong-Ra - 4 Adaptations Of Rossz Csillag Alatt Született - 05-Apr-06 01:58 AM
Don't expect a breakcore record. Don't expect a straight forward jazz record either. Expect 4 beautifully reworked masterpieces. Bong-Ra's use of jazz drumming and upright bass gives these tracks a totally different feel. The emotion Bong-Ra was feeling at the time is totally evident. A sense of gloom, yet a glimpse of hope rising amongst the despair.
