Coldcut - 70 Minutes Of Madness - 12-May-03 10:26 PM
'Journey By Dj' it's called and a fantastic and totally enveloping journey it is... navigated through all the styles by the man with all the skills and vision, Coldcut. The journey encompasses everything from reggae, to dub, jungle, house, funk, soul, electro, techno, soundscapes... even a spoken word from the infamous Jello Biafra of Dead Kennedy's fame. At moments frantic and frenetic, others smooth and flowing, the way he's crafted this whole mix into one cohesive whole is trademark Coldcut.
This classic still sounds fresh, as though it could've been released just last year. If you haven't heard this already, go out and do so.

DJ Hype - FabricLive. 03 - 04-May-03 05:10 PM
A lively mix of steppy, driving, dark, funky and chunky drum and bass. With a predominantly dark overtone, this mix encompasses a good variety of dnb to keep things interesting and moving along (all at a nice quick pace I might add). Hype's turntable antics are present as always with some great scratching and mixing adding some extra spice. Only disappointment with this cd is the inclusion of "Body Rock" by Andy C and Shimon, but it's not enough to taint the end product.

Ray Keith Presents Twisted Anger - Mothership - 04-May-03 04:56 PM
This is evil drum and bass at it's absolute best! The drum programming is simply superb with flat out stabs of tearing and chopped beats. If you're a drummer, you'll melt for these beats. Very dark and foreboding, it conjures up mental landscapes of distant alien vs robot battles of epic proportions. Some of the mixes on the second cd (mixed by Ray Keith) leave a lot to be desired, however, the tracks more than make up for it.
