Profile: "The Techno sound of Detroit, the most totally linear programmed music ever, lacking any human musicianship in its execution, reeks of sweat, sex and desire. The creators of that music just press a few buttons and out comes a million years of pain and lust."

Dubstep, DnB, Detroit Techno, Breakcore, Ambient, Welsh Psycadelic Folk Rock... easier to look at the collection really. Everything scrobbled into LastFM thanks to 700GB of FLAC files.

Don't ask for MP3's or CDr trades. Emails to that effect will get a rude reply.

Marc Riley - 16-Oct-07 12:43 PM
Marc Riley gave me hours of pleasure as a young lad listening to the graveyard shift of BBC Radio 1. Along with Mark Radcliffe they played me the Stone Roses, Radiohead, Mazzy Star, Suede and countless other indie bands whilst at the same time proving to be a solid comedy act. And then there was The Shirehorses...

I'm pretty sure they got me into Orbital as well; Marc and Mark rank up alongside Peel in terms of my early musical education.

Thanks Lard.

Billy Corgan - TheFutureEmbrace - 22-Nov-06 01:06 AM
Whereas Zwan turned out to be unexpectedly good, a loud upbeat noise on a par with the Pumpkins better output - Billys first (and lets hope last) solo album is unexpectedly bad. Its as though there was no one to reign him in on his flights of fancy. Its some kind of proggy rock, an embarrassing listen - I only say this because I had such high hopes. Bring back the pumpkins...whats this, they reformed? Excellent!

Amon Tobin - Chaos Theory - The Soundtrack To Tom Clancy's Splinter Cell - 10-Aug-06 09:17 AM
This has become one of my most-played albums. It seems to have snuck in there, with no big impact, no real wow factor, but with each listen its become an old friend.

Music designed for a computer game means that the listener has to be able to withstand repeat listens without going insane as they retry a level (and retry, and retry...). So Amon Tobin has taken all of his cinematic skills and slick production and toned them down to a more steady pace. Which also makes this album great for working to, I can sit at my desktop with some cans on and lets this album run and run. More involving than ambient, not as distracting as his 'normal' output. Pure quality.

Burial - Burial - 29-May-06 06:11 AM
This is as solid as dubstep comes. A very dark emotional album, straying into gorgeous ambient on 'nightbus' and 'prayer' and really demonstrating that dubstep has no clear boundaries. Its the sound of late night empty rain-lashed London. I must have played this album ten times over the past week, and I don't usually play anything more than twice. Definately a keeper.

Various - Fuck Your Style - 24-Sep-05 09:39 PM
Showcasing the cream of the new wave of ragga jungle from the US. This stuff is mad, taking the roughest badbwoy lyrics and frantic amen beats, verging on breakcore in places. For me its much more exciting than the UK scene at the moment. True its about as subtle and refined as a punch in the face but its really exciting, and thats something I haven't been able to say about UK DnB for a while now.

R.A.W. creates some of the best jungle mixtapes ever made, and for the first time we have an official release, if you like Soundmurderer then this is the next stop for you.
