Valet - Naked Acid - 10-Jun-08 09:13 PM
Valet has truly created a phenomenal work with Naked Acid. "Post Rock" hasn't struck me as this wonderful since the days of Flying Saucer Attack. The deliciously ethereal vocals wash down my spine like the lingerings of oft-forgotten chemical romances and the guitar mastery is soothingly Barrettesque. This album is a must have for anyone who is tired and bored of the garbage that mainstream media insists on pushing down our throats. Again, Kranky fails to disappoint.

Gui Boratto - Addicted Vol.2 - 01-Mar-08 12:06 AM
Addicted Vol 2 is an excellent compilation of the tracks that are representative of the flavor of techno that is popular today. Even though Gui is a phenomenal producer; don't expect, however, to be impressed with the mixing of these tracks. There seems to be very, very little overlap between the tracks themselves which will be a disappointment for anyone who appreciates the art of the DJ. For all intensive purposes, there might as well be gaps between the tracks.

Birchville Cat Motel - Gunpowder Temple Of Heaven - 29-Feb-08 11:56 PM
This 40 minute excursion into the depths of Birchville Cat Motel starts off with a simple drone. Over time, the layers of complexity that are added reveal a great insight into the appreciation of noise and drone instead of the overbearing distortion that many producers fall victim to. About halfway through, a washed out melody starts to poke through and really drives the whole piece to the next level. A truly spine tingling and awe inspiring work that rewards those who listen (and pay attention) to it in its entirety.

DAC Crowell / Kurt Doles - DAC Crowell / Kurt Doles - 29-May-04 03:53 PM
A testament to the ideal that music need not be overly complex in order to be beautiful. The ambience that is conveyed in this recording is almost to the point of transcendence. Fans of minimalism and ambience should take note of this five-star production, and for those new to the genre, there is no better place to start. Destined to be a staple in the collection of every listener of electronic music.
