CLSM - (Takes Me) Higher (DJ Seduction Remix) / Drifting Away

Drifting away has all the elements of a good sounding, emotional electronic breakbeat track. A vocal by Stefan B who did the singing on CLSM 4 - Liberation, and the beat programming is amazing. I'm not a huge fan of CLSM tracks, but this is one release that stands out. The remixes of the drifting away track are in my opinion crap.
This is probably one of the best oldskool piano records luna-c ever produced. On other releases that feature the piano progression track, the piano always sounds kind of wobbly. But on this release you can really hear the piano progress throughout the track. The flipside, "Onward" however is nothing amazing. Luna-c personally thinks that the original mix of this track is the best.
One cannot deny that this release is genius. How one person can make such an amazing track out of the Bohemian Rhapsody of "Queen" which we're all so bored of. The Bohemian crapsody is an amazing mashup featuring samples of "house music". All the other tracks on this release are genius aswell, but the bohemian crapsody one stands out. Pardy hard is a fine alter of the track by Andrew WK, but the production isn't that tight.
In my humble opinion this is the best oldskool sounding record panacea has ever produced. All of his modern productions have a sample or two of oldskool tracks like Ramos & Supreme etc. but this one has the best production in general. This is a whole different project than what we are used to hear from Panacea.
I think many people will agree with me that this isn't a good record Dan the doormouse decided to put out. The mashups aren't bad at all, but what is really missing is something recognisable. For all of the previous installments in this "I heart series" there was always something that grabbed your attention, that made you go wild. This release however doesn't have that one thing that'll get me to the record store. Might be my personal taste. The samples of Nightmare before christmas are nice however.
When I first listened to this musician I said to myself; this sounds boring. But now, I realised this sounds all very emotional. I actually feel that the word, knobturner in the description is insulting. This is a great artist who makes sensitive electronic music and which feels familiar to most guitar sounds. Its something to start a day with. Its easy to get into.. drum sounds are simple, and so are most of the electronic sounds he used. I love it. | ||||
