Various - Nippon Connection - Exchanging Tracks - 18-Nov-07 01:12 PM
The Nippon Connection - Exchanging Tracks compilation is the result of the cooperation between the German label Das Modular and Nippon Connection, the largest Japanese film festival in Europe. Two Japanese traditionals played by the Shingetsu Ensemble were recorded by Das Modular and then re-interpreted by renowned remixers from all over the world. The triple CD-box features the resulting 28 electronic re-interpretations plus the Japanese Originals. Each track was exclusively produced for the project. The compilation consistently connects a wide range of electronic music styles such as House, Electronic Jazz, Detroit Techno, Elektronica, Asian Lounge, Drum n Bass and Instrumental Hip-Hop.

Carsten Jost - Split - 29-May-07 10:21 AM
This release goes deep. Deep into your soul, deep into your heart. Efdemin's "Just A Track" propagandises a deep filed minimal House track with the lyrics: "If House Is A Nation, I Wanna Be President!". Deep, relaxed and progressive at the same time, it has such a tasty bassline in the end. It's not "Just A Track", it is out of this world. Carsten Jost's "Love" is a very warm House track with fresh percussions. The flipping claps and percussions will be broken open by a deep stab which continues to be the main part. After some time a kind of Rhodes sets in with wonderful and dreamy notes. Now, what a mighty deepness. These tracks are really a good match, a typical Dial deepness.
Arp Aubert - Yasminnje - 13-May-07 06:29 AM
Nipplegate is the capricious track on this record. It sounds like Arp Aubert would have a thousand hands on effect controllers on every single sound. It is fresh and funky. In Gulden Bull you can hear a bit of the typical clear Arp Aubert sound. Modern Classical in abstract minimal House music. A very analytical way of handling sounds. At the first listen you will get stunned by the strange chords which are flying definitely through the bass drum and the cut voice samples. But later you notice the clear structured pad with the simple melody which makes the track clear again. Yasminnje begins with even more strange sounds but then suddenly you feel the big massive riding arpeggiator. What a bomb. To sum up this is a really great record and an unique appearance especially due to the outstanding drawing by Tomma Brook but has to be listened with caution.
Ferrer & Sydenham Inc.* - № 3 - Sandcastles (Jerome's Demo Dub) - 24-May-06 04:53 AM
This is the most deeply song I've ever heard with a lovely buildup of loops. That's what I call music. Dennis Ferrer and Jerome Sydenham did a great job on this. I like especially the strings and the latin voices in the end. But the change after 3:34 minutes is also huge.
