Various - ART4 - 04-Sep-09 05:59 AM
"ART4" was the follow-up compilation to the historic "The Philosophy Of Sound And Machine" compilation release the year earlier."ART4" featured three key artists under various guises:-Tracks 1, 5 & 10 - Balil aka Ed Handley from Black Dog Productions & Plaid. Track 2 - Atypic aka Andrew Turner from Black Dog Productions & Plaid. Tracks 3, 4, 6-9 - Future/Past & As One aka Kirk Degiorgio.
What was interesting about this compilation was some of the mixes it featured, with some of them exclusive to this compilation."ART4" featured the classic quality with more focus on the uptempo soulful electronic music rather than on the mix of styles of it`s predecessor "The Philosophy Of Sound And Machine"."ART4" remains a classic compilation which set new standards at the time for quality and production for soulful electronic music.
Various - The Philosophy Of Sound And Machine - 24-Jan-09 08:36 AM
The Philosophy Of Sound And Machine is a compilation cd released in 1992 on the record label Applied Rhythmic Technology in cooperation with Rephlex.(Compiled By - Grant Wilson Claridge & Kirk Degiorgio). The compilation was made up of six key artists under various aliases:- Q-Chastic / Soit-P.P / Blue Calx aka Richard James. Balil / Twelve Days Of Night aka Black Dog. Cmetric / Red Cell aka B12. Future/Past / Esoterik aka Kirk Degiogio. Neuro Politique aka Matt Cogger. The Kosmik Kommando aka Mike Dred. The result was the first ALL British "Techno" compilation which still stands out as some of the best material released by many of the contributing artists. Many of the artists at the time were part of the underground scene and now showns how important and innovative these artists were & still are. Many of the tracks featured on this excellent compilation have been released at latter stages via other releases apart from the two Aphex Twin tracks "CAT 002" & "n.IASP",which still remain exclusive to this compilation. The Philosophy Of Sound And Machine still remains as an historic focal point for quality soulful electronic music for the dancefloor and mind. This compilation is very rare and fetches very high prices when it`s offered for sale,a repress and remaster is needed to give it the full vinyl & CD release it has always deserved.
Thompson Twins - Into The Gap (Deluxe 2 CD Edition) - 19-May-08 05:29 AM
What an incredible quality re-release of this classic album from 1984. First there's the package itself, the booklet folds out into an impressive sheet packed with pictures of the band and the original sleeves for the various vinyl, cassette & picture disc editions of the singles. Next we have the album itself, which sounds excellent even by todays standards. This excellent set also includes for the very first time the 'Special Cassette Remixes' and a further seven 12" mixes plus B-sides. This album is a testament to just how important the Thompson Twins were to the 80`s sound and style of the time. The quality of this reissue sets new high standards, lets hope they are followed through to other releases which come under the same title of `Reissue Albums`of the future.

John Beltran - Going Home EP - 03-Apr-08 02:06 AM
From the first graceful notes,it is clear that John Beltrn`s Going Home Ep is going to be a work of pure, calming beauty. As it moves along, however, what becomes even more clear is that it is an amazing, almost alchemical blend of beautiful soothing melodies, textures with irresistible beats for a fully immersive listening experience..There's so much to enjoy here,It demands repeat listens to discover layers or things missed on earlier passes. This Ep is highly recommended,as it reminds us how engaging John Beltrans productions can be.
