Trentemøller - The Last Resort - 23-Feb-07 01:15 PM
Somewhat disappointing this one after all the stuff extolling its greatness. Clearly a talented musician with a an eye for good composition and tapping into the latest trends; there's minimal house, glitch, ambience and a bit of acid all thrown in for good measure. Trouble is its a bit all over the place and fails to present itself as a complete piece of work; feeling more like a compilation of tracks trying to tick all the genre boxes. Production also lacking; its sounds a bit synthetic and 1 dimensional lacking the depth, acoustic space and quality of sound you might find on a Lawrence or John Tejada production.

Ryoji Ikeda - dataplex - 12-Jul-06 10:01 AM
I don't recommend playing this on average quality Hifi or audio equipment. Whilst the production can be revealed on a good system to include a massive acoustic range the same CD completely screwed the speakers on my car's speakers ~ especially its tweeters. Fortunately i still have the warranty and VW have today replaced the whole lot for free. I will not play this again on the road whic is a great pity because I'd love to drive around my home town and cause some mischief amongst the canine community.

Sean Deason - Allegory & Metaphor - 19-Jun-06 05:37 AM
This is a very consistent album despite switching from techno , through to house, drum and bass and some early trance that reminded me of early Robert Leiner. The various themes are bonded together with a Detroit sensibility and space which must place this alongside some of the better detroit albums of the last 10 years. As above great listening and not to be overlooked.

Various - Everything Is Green - 03-Feb-06 03:10 AM
Everying you might expect from a Toytroninc collection but on first pass this selection seems, quite apptly, to be a little more organic than predicted. Less glitchy and spikey, soothing bits of softly bubbling b lines (especially title track) and drawn out melodies.

Erasure - Erasure - 23-Oct-03 03:39 PM
The Influence of Fehlmann produces a wonderful richness to Erasure and their best album
