Tuss, The - Confederation Trough EP - 05-May-07 12:49 PM
I recieved my copy of this today and am very pleased with it, I am always interested to hear the latest Rephlex signings and am not dissapointed in this one, all the tracks are drenched in acid. Crisp, beautiful arrangememnts, retro drums all combine to create a multi textured miriad of colour and sonic pleasure, looking forward to the long player very much, buy it now whilst its cheap!!!!!
Also, rumour has it that this is actually the Twin man himself under a new alias, very similar production techniques and Twin Cliches are abundant but as i said its just a rumour!!!!
Slug Pocket - Slug Pocket - 05-Nov-06 07:42 AM
i thoroughly enjoyed this "release", i have searched high and low for a copy.
I recently discogerevered that this was a CDr only!
it is brilliant,i am already a fan of froggys work, this, to my delight is a total escape from any derived format that frog pocket has ventured upon, it lacks in any kind of melodic or formulaic approach and just IS what it is.
i have never heard anything like it, it is amazing
i believe it is the audible version of the "jam" series (Chris morris), mixed with a bit of Tim Burton, a sprinkle of Terry Gilliam on top, David lynch mixes the flavours, Salvidor Dali Whisks the egg to which Darren Aronovsky does the battering and consequentially richard Harrison dips Joseph nothing in the Fryer
Sunshine Underground, The - Put You In Your Place - 14-Aug-06 12:30 PM
It is a very pleasing release, wellingtons craftily written vocals instantly elude the listeners ear, the funk ridden guitar licks shimmy up the mid range, gwiltss timing is constantly impeccable and their hasnt been an act that has implemented a cowbell for at least 60 years, this is sheer top 40 standard bliss, the attention to what is pop is undeniable, zane lowe has recently picked the shrews lads out in his weekly fresh meat competition, they are surely on thier way. We need more electro/pop bands they are in short supply, I wish more Labels would release this kind of material, the major dance labels in the u.K could take a leaf and start releasing some electro pop, warp/suburban bass/Planet mu forget depeche forget joy duivision forget SFA forget the cooper temple clause forget Maximo all hail The Sunshine Underground
D'Arcangelo - Shipwreck - 16-May-06 12:26 AM
Really enjoyed this release, its a collection of thier works from 96-99 and still stands up well in todays market of hyper glitched electronica, the opener is a sweeping slice of 808 induced techno before blasting off into full on broken beats and catchy hooks, homemade drum sounds and skittering piano, i was one of the lucky 1000 to recieve the tin casing on release but have spotted a few on ebay since at reasonable prices BUY BUY BUY!
Chaos A.D. - Buzz Caner - 16-Mar-05 01:12 AM
This is a brilliant release, and a suprising one, for those who are more familiar with TJs more recent jazz offerings this is a side of Tj i would like to hear more of,the recent Venus no17 is a closer relative to this album than much of his other works, serious acid undertones and awesome beat programming throughout means it will keep you entertained for years, it had a 1998 release but alot of the tracks can be backdated to as early as 94,Dreaded pestilence is one of the noisiest Tj tracks going, very reminiscent of Speedranch/snares collaberation making orange things, though years before, i never thought of TJ as a pioneer in noisecore more drum and bass, but it seemed he settled into this after years of genre experimentation, maybe hes responsible for more than we give him credit for.
this release recently went for 60 quid on ebay keep an eye out for it STUNNING!!
