Devendra Banhart - Niño Rojo - 16-Mar-05 08:12 AM
Niño Rojo is the companion album to Rejoicing In The Hands, which was released earlier in 2004. It is culled from the same sessions. It is not a series of out-takes, or extra tracks. It is essentially CD #2 of a double album.
Akufen - My Way - 09-Apr-04 11:29 AM
This is very listenable, very funky, thoroughly enjoyable tech-house. It is futuristic, glitchy, and experiemental while retaining the raw dance appeal of house music... a perfect balance of gitchy microsamples/beats and house/disco groove. Many of the samples he uses are taken from popular radio cheeze, but are given new life in his microhouse glitchy compositions. The faction of a second samples he uses often evoke the emotions/intentions of their FM radio source contexts. Akufen blends both the sounds and the feelings attached to his samples in a genius way, "recycling" the garbage of FM radio into a brilliant and highly rewarding listening experience.
