Dave is simply one of the best djs on the planet and a dedicated ambassador of techno music. One night, he played at a legendary party in my area and rocked it. When he showed up at the after party, they had decks and a mixer, but nothing to set them up on. He proceeded to find scrap wood and a power drill, build a table, and play into the wee hours of the night. If that isn't the true spirit of techno, please school me on what is.
I know some Luomo fans will want to hang me for this, but the Mathias Schaffhauser remix is best version of this heavily remixed Luomo classic. It is a heavily effected, dubbed-out, minimal masterpiece, in which the vocals are just as cleverly chopped and tweaked as in either of Luomo's original versions. Both of which are beautiful in their own rights. Perfect closing anthem for minimal house set or afterhours vibe.
René Et Gaston - Merluche Ideale

"Merlouche Ideale"(Pssst) is one of the most beuatiful tracks I have ever heard. It has a very simple rhythm that chugs along with a round, soft kick & a great shuffling highs. The key element though, is the absolutely infectous synth hook. A four or five note, repeating melody that is so simple, yet so right. A few other minor elements build tension as the song progresses & then drops out, only to bring the hook back in. Fantastic record that seems very hard to find. Everytime I hear it, it washes away all my worries. Reminds me of a warm, sunny day in the park. | ||||
