Unit Black Flight - Where Is Carlos - 06-Jun-07 06:36 PM
All tracks lean towards the John Carpenter soundtrack sound - atmosphere adds to the moody, sceptical feel. However, the monster track on this 12'' is the Legowelt remix on ''no turning back''. The tempo kicks up and the Legowelt quirky synths kick in ...the rhythm drives and twists locking you into a groove...you can hear the same influences on Squadra Blanco's release.
Maitreya - .74 - 03-Jun-07 04:39 AM
This is what Ambient should sound like...music that is relaxing but also, can be just as thought provoking. When closing your eyes, the sound of each track can take you into a different place, offering countless new images for your mind to break down or re-visit.
An example being the 1st track ''Escent''. Upon hearing this, It counjours up images of a Medieval place, sad and full solitude. The violin is such a powerful instrument to make the track stand out. However, further excursion through the CD takes you deep into driffting oceans or floating through green, lush landscapes. This release has an earthy feel and a sound that counjours up images/feelings of an older period in time, rather than the future. This makes a welcome change as many ambient releases tend to have a spacey, futuristic or clinical slant on sound.
Zanov - Moebius 256 301 - 02-Jun-07 08:22 PM
I only recently heard Zanov from the playlist on the mighty 'Cybernetic Broadcasting System'...I went out and purchased to learn more...what I got was experimental electronics from Zanov...sounding like a mixture of Jean Michel Jarre and Tangerine Dream, Zanov combines tracks of ambient space, sequencers and synth pop melody. Check out ''Enygma'' for heavy, pulsating, bugged out synths or the Jarre sounding ''Moebius 301''.
Lovers of progressive synth go forth and seek Zanov !
Equinox (5) - Pulzar - 12-May-06 08:50 AM
''dum - dum - dum - dum - dum - dum ...tisssshhh'' the opening sounds of the distorted kick drum and claps od 'surveryor 3' This is an example of the hard acid/industrial sound of the early 90's techno scene, it certainly clears any cobwebs you may have in your ears!
Freak Electrique - Symphony Electrique - 11-Nov-05 02:32 AM
This has played for months on the CBS radio...I'm sure eager robots are hunting this track down now...16 minutes is a long time to sustain energy levels on a track. On this release you will not be dissapointed...a driving bassline, hints of italo, new wave, the occassional acid line combined with perfect peaks/lows, respresent an amazing release!! Go forth and seek this 12".
