Natural-Self - The Sound / Foundation - 20-Jun-08 01:40 PM
'The Sound' is a badasss.. there's no disputing the power of this little 7". A really wicked jangley break with awesome 'parpy' saxophone and brass section stabbing away at the catchiest of riffs - Perfect! Minimal with just enough to get your teeth into and leave you gagging for more. This hasn't left my bag since it was released and i bought another copy soon after realising it's greatness, out of fear of losing my original. Proper Cool Tune. Classic. Thankyou Keno-1.
Ace Of Clubs, The - Rubber Chunks EP - 09-Apr-08 09:19 AM
The track 'patriotic acid' is truly that... really nice gnarley acid over a b boy style fat hip hop break with waves of 'old skool hardcore' noises breezing in and out of the mix. A true melting pot of all that was good about the uk rave scene and the music that came out of this..Slow on the bpms but high on nostalgia.. I regularly drop it and trust me, its a cracker.. Well done mr. vibert!!
Easymo - Cut And Run E.P. - 04-Apr-08 07:10 AM
Wicked record!! It has it all and pure quality too.. A collision of old styles here.. from old hardcore to the sheffield bleep sound.. The 'cut and run' track with its 'ardcore mash up of samples 'that' bass and proper infectious break running through it.. Its a real groover. The B side is a MUST for anyone who ever enjoyed the early releases of LFO, Tricky Disco and especially Nightmares on wax.. maybe thats what inspired them to name it 'nightmare' . Backwards metallic riffs , deeep fat bass.. ruftee.. Easymo.
Unknown, The (2) - Dreams Of Santa Anna - 02-Apr-08 02:10 PM
If you're only going to own one record on this fine fine label then this has got to be it... The Euro-rap "dreams of santa anna" does hold a certain dated charm, the beats are heavy with stacatto stabs, but can't help thinking that other more commercial 90's 'dance' acts with cringey rappers kind of ruined this sound for ever.. That said, the B side is where the gold lies.. the awesome 'put your f***n hands in the air' is a heavy tune with plenty enough funk to keep it going and 'psycho' is just a moment of inspiration , the dark vocals (from the film) and the rolling beats combine with the twisted psychotic rave noises.. Its a keeper.. A proper EP that isn't part of the trendy well known 'set' of old skool classics (thank god) Just buy it... before everyone else realises..
Jason Leach - Death To Vinyl - 06-Mar-08 03:39 PM
This is what its all about... A1 and A2.. Both Timeless tracks.. Rave armageddon inna jason style.. Perfection. Want people to remember your set? Then play either of these tracks.. A1 with it's lilting infectious swinging nasty break or A2 with the mother of all nastyness,, think a nest of maggots but pleasurable.. Both tracks are live as they come.. really rough round the edges but with a solid core to them.. It really doesn't get any better than this... Honestly.. If you like your subhead/sativae/wrongness but rightness; then this is the record for you...
