Reviews & Discussion:

Naphta Sep 20, 2006 (edited over 3 years ago)
Without a doubt, Naphta is one of the few good things that has come out of the moody Drum & Bass scene in Ireland.
His DJ Sets never cease to amaze, top selection every time - top breakage.

It’s a shame there is not more releases to the public domain by Naphta, his productions are in a class of their own.

Unfortunately well over 90% of Drum & Bass is completely gone to the dogs since 2002, but Naphta is one of the few that fits into the 10% of amazing music.

Underground - a true Junglist

MBG & Rame* & Alkemy & DJ Uovo - Peter Pan EP Aug 31, 2005 (edited over 4 years ago)
Any deep house fan's collection from Cork, Ireland would be incomplete without this record. The highly over-rated "Dynamic Seduction" or better known to house heads as "The Ultimate Seduction", has deep roots in the now legendary Sir Henry's nightclub - Cork.

Highly sought after here in Cork, usually exchanges for €120 plus, but unfortunately has been cained by the droves of local house-heads at every house party for the last 10 years. I would have my doubts about this record having any major significance outside of Cork City.

It’s a shame sometimes when good records get found out by the masses, then only to be played out and to loose any original meaning to the Sir Henry's oldskoolers - like myself of course!
Aphex Twin - Xylem Tube E.P. Aug 24, 2005 (edited over 4 years ago)
Polynomial-C is without a doubt one of the most amazing pieces of music I have ever heard. If you ever wondered what music would sound like if it was produced underwater, this it the track.

Aphex twin's genius was definitely at a high when he was producing this material, the rest of the tracks on the EP take a couple of listens, but equally excellent music.

This was the first Aphex twin record I bought and my first introduction to him as well, I still play this out on the radio and gigs, every time I drop it, and it always gets the trainspotters murmuring....

An essential Aphex Twin release
Sweet Mercy - Take Me Away Jun 03, 2005 (edited over 4 years ago)
Breakbeat House at its finest. The network version / release of this track is the more known, but this is defiantly a far superior mix of the track. The bassline and breaks are top, saying that, there is not much you can do with it when mixing it in, a quick 8 bar mix and drop! The vocals are the same as in the Network version: "Come with me to the dance floor....", but they sound better in this track. My original copy of this record is worn out, must get another copy!
BFC - Evolution May 24, 2005 (edited over 4 years ago)
This is a fantastic record; I can’t believe I didn’t pick up on it earlier. Evolution is a timeless classic, still sounds fresh 15 years later. Its chilled tone and addictive snare pattern, enables you to sneak it into a variety of sets & styles.
