I first heard about Kollektiv Turmstrasse when I discovered 'Tristesse EP' on Connaisseur back in 2007, it highlighted quickly the special touch of this German group's productions in that period of minimal techno mass productions.
But make no mistake, their first (physical) album "Rebellion Der Träumer" is far from their other Minimal productions, more House/Dub/Tribal oriented, they managed to produced not only the best album of 2010 in my opinion, but maybe one of the most impressive piece of music of the first decade of the 2000's as well.
Extremely well produced, with a huge effort in beat making, each track owns its proper feeling that build together a very emotional, unique and moody atmosphere. Dramatic strings, heavy bass-lines, killing beats, haunting voices or beautiful vocals, this album is an hymn to the Nature and the Beauty of the Music itself.
Impossible to find a best track on it: the haunting "Affekt" as intro track, "Sphäre" for the impressive heavy Bass-line, the wonderful "Heimat" for its amazing crying strings, the killer "Schwindelig" that almost break my heart each time I listen to it, the melodic and insistent "Addio Addio"... what an absolutely stunning album!
"Rebellion Der Träumer" is one of these so rare albums I'm pretty sure I will listen during years each time amazed by its quality. Unique and Wonderful: own it, keep it, love it!

"Garden Of Fantasy" is this kind of track which makes you directly feel something special. It's this kind of track for which you let the stylus spin through the run-out for a while how high you are despite the track is finished.
A journey of dramatic & melodic strings, including subtle beats without almost any bass, still high in the feeling.
Actually the beautiful painting by Chen Yun Wang as artwork says everything: lying down on the sea, looking at the deep blue sky, eyes wide opened how beautiful it is, listening to Garden Of Fantasy floating in the air.
What a beautiful delight when music is so good!

One more time Boxcutter delivers a wonderfull piece of music with this wonderfull 2 tracker on Hotflush.
On the A side you will find "Philly", a stomping Dubstep track, with a smooth bassline and a progressive construction which will fit perfectly in any DJ set from a wide range of electronic style.
But the real treasure on this release is the B side with "Endothermic" which is for me, one of the best Dubstep/IDM track I have ever heard. An emotional track which catches your heart and your mind with its exceptional melancholic melody, that built and built around a powerfull IDMish bassline, that only Boxcutter knows how to make it this way. Remember "J Dub" or "Chiral" from his excellent Album Glyphic, you'll find on this track all the emotion and the power you've always required for a perfect track.
An absolute killer track on a very valuable release! More please!!

It's always funny to listen to current release whereas it reminds you something older. And in this case it's not only a remind: Maximus, the B-Side of this release, is only but exactly the same track as Laurent Garnier's "Moonbeam" release in 1993 on the Planet House EP! And it's not only an inspiration, it's exactly the same track, the same deep excellent melody, the same great kick... But it was made 13 years before... Just amazing!
