Weekender - Kneel Before Zod - 01-May-07 11:38 PM
Weekender is a sheffield-based team of uk producers/artists who have for a number of years, released deep, atmospheric tunes for the underground dance label Toko. Most of their 12" productions are showcased in this full-length release. All consist mostly of textured synths and rich basslines that can within the same track, keep shifting like your emotions.
Of particular interest are the cuts "On The One" and "Spirit In Your Soul", both of which feature some unforgettable vocals by Azeem.

Dave Seaman And Ian Ossia - Renaissance - The Mix Collection Part 4 - 06-Jun-06 01:39 AM
This "4th Mix Collection" is the ideal representative of that era a decade ago, just before the transition of Progressive House to Trance. What do I have to say about it? The track selection is excellent; you will find very few, if any cheesy tunes. And the mixing is top-notch; to the point of inducing euphoria. Look out for Chicane's classic "Offshore" with Power Circle's "A Little Love, A Little Life".

Even after 10 years, this album has not lost any of its potency. It's still as inspirational as ever.

Projections - Backbone - 28-Feb-06 03:29 PM
Backbone is a true midtempo gem. Distinctive for its sleek arrangement and underlying bass groove, it makes for essential listening in any chill-out lounge.

Physics Feat. Lou Lou (3) - City Lights - 28-Feb-06 01:12 AM
This brings to mind exactly that; city lights.
One evening about 4 years ago, I was in New Asia Bar on the 70th floor of Swissotel The Stamford staring at the skyline outside, when this track came up.
"City Lights" has a very modern feel to it which cannot be fully described in words. That, combined with some distant vocals, makes it impressive. The darker-sounding Nightvision Mix is more for the afterhour sessions.
I did'nt think much about it at the time it was playing. But after leaving the bar, the tune stayed with me until after 2am.

Bougie Soliterre - Superficial - 14-Feb-06 05:46 AM
Deep house at its finest with an amazing arrangement.
The siren-like vocals and breathy utterances make it sound almost surreal.
