Tear Garden, The - Have A Nice Trip - 11-Nov-09 03:07 AM
What the hell happened to Tear Garden, that beautiful little extra-comet in Edwards dark-dotted universe?
What happened to those morbid pearls of pop, of which this band once used to string us chains of scarred angels, floating homes and ships, doomed to sail forever?
What first seemed to be only a secret experiment an album ago (quite literally), now forces us to gather in front of the harsh face of truth: this project has become just another of cEvin Keys subconscious electro-bastards - featuring Edwards voice as a distant echo, as an epitaph on this digital gravestone!
Not that I do completely dislike what Skinny Puppys Daddys body of work is all about, but when I buy me a jar labelled with "forgotten fruit in plain chocolate" I do not want to taste carbonized chip-throw-off.

Though I can hear the lords of transience whisper "Rest In Peace" already
and the reaper whistle in the hallway,
I will keep my wings on waiting for a gentle rain to fall...

Edward Ka-Spel - Meltdown - 22-Apr-07 05:57 AM
Bad news for all you collectible-owners and time again to start that laborious discussion whether some music should be - respectively should remain - exclusive or not. But first the facts: Meltdown isnt exclusive any longer! This track will appear on the Ka-Spel CD-release "Melancholics Anonymous" together with some other vinyl-rarities. If it wasnt the (lead singer of the) Legendary Pink Dots, Id say one is just tending to make a fast buck. OK, Edward and the Dots should be supported where- and whenever we can, but shouldnt there be a sort of reward for all those loyals who catch any of their releases launched? I know, it rather is a comment for a forum and it has been started time and time again, but meanwhile it has grown to such a common matter that I thought it ought to be presented to an audience as large as possible.

Felix Knoth* - Die Pein Vom Haupt Entfernen - 04-Dec-06 09:10 AM
First let me state, in general I am a big fan of this labels unusual art-objects, as I myself own several of them.
But this release is far from the standard of all the other objects label-owner Rene Heid has launched so lovingly, yet: Installation is not that difficult, OK, but nevertheless too elaborate to see an effect, which isnt worth all the effort, as I think! And having closed the blinds and one eye several times & fixed a seperate light in the same way time and time again, I finally decided one box to be enough in my collection and sold this one again for even less than I bought it.
So let me tell all you out there, who bear in mind becoming a box-owner someday: do NOT start with that one.
A pair of new shoes will do just as well! They wont sound much worse than the noises on this release - and the price is considerably smaller and of course: the box!

Coil - The Plastic Spider Thing - 17-Nov-06 08:33 AM
Received a copy just recently, and those ritual drones filled both, my room and my head that evening - bit by bit. Stunned I listened to all those ever repeating motifs and echoes of motifs and sounds and voices.
I also read a review by someone who tells this release to be the worst remix-album hes had the displeasure to own, yet.
Listening to it, my mind tried to trace his words saying "This is a meal prepared by someone with a minimum of effort and not worth even considering" - but something else deep in me said "Eat!" - and so it was!
