Goldfrapp - Twist - 08-Dec-06 03:38 PM
Jacques Lu Cont is a pretty good remixer, and this record prooves it. Generally its commercial electronic dance music (here it's Goldfrapp) but he usually does a good job. With the Conversion Perversion Mix of Goldfrapp's Twist he literally makes you dance, the vibe just carries you on the dancefloor. The track starts with a sample that keeps evolving and evolving, and then BOOM - he kicks it with a strong, phat beatline. The vocal fits in perfectly, like a cherry on top. Instead of Conversion Perversion Dub,the second track should be called "instrumental" because its the same track just without vocals, no extra adjustments were made. The third track called Yes Sir has a broken beat, and in my opinion, comparing to the other two its made for listening, not the dancefloor because unlike to Twist it sounds too ordinary. This record might not be your cup of tea but it's worth buying, you might need it if you wanna wake up your audience.
Octave One - Somedays - 27-Nov-06 08:22 AM
No comment about Somedays? You people are blind. I bust my speakers quite often with this baby. Very nice tracks, the vocals are great and give me goosebumps and the beat is nice and pumpin'. The KSR remix is just a little bit different, more delay on the vocals and some tiny adjustments. In my opinion this record is just as good as Blackwater, sometimes even better.
Paul St. Hilaire & René Löwe - Faith - 27-Nov-06 01:58 AM
Can you believe that this is the first record I ever bought? This record is a true masterpiece, whatever comes from Vainqueur's (Rene Lowe) hands is brilliant, plus it was mastered by Moritz Von Oswald and you know how professional he is too. Such a smooth track, you can play it late at night as a lullaby or early in the morning while drinking your first coffee. It has a nice ambient background and a repetitive theme, but since it has such a nice flow you don't even notice the repetitiveness. The vocal sounds like some ghost that suddenly appears and leaves, maybe I'm the only one who sees it that way but it makes the track more mysterious. This record is a gem, worth every penny and I'm proud that it's the first record in my collection.
Omar-S - Side-Trakx-Volume-#-1 - 24-Nov-06 12:11 AM
Another great record by Omar-S. Really nice for some afternoon chillin',different from the rest of the Fxhe collection, prooves how flexible Omar-S' production is. Excellent tracks, Morning Drive kinda steps out from the rest of the tracks, and my copy has a skip in the beginning of the track. With this record Omar-S will get a lot of respect even in the hip hop world, and no matter how much you pay for this record you'll always get this for free - the true Detroit spirit.
