Facade - The Groove - 25-Apr-08 04:57 AM
The message on the run-out groove reads, "PAUL WHO? RAIN WHAT? This is a direct reference to Paul Hardcastle's "Rain Forrest".

This Techno Hop release by The Unknown DJ and Darryl Davis is obviously heavily influenced by Rain Forrest which was a big Electro/Soul hit at the time.

'The Groove' is quite different to most other releases on Techno Hop being that is is of a more soulful nature than the usual Electro Rap style of '808 Beats' and the like.

Roxanne* With UTFO - Roxanne Roxanne - 28-Jul-07 01:44 AM
Early release copies had 6 tracks which included 'Hanging Out (Instrumental) as A3, with same Cat. No.

Most likely due to Gallup Poll changes to 12" record times being reduced in the UK in 1984. If a 12" record went over a certain time it was considered an Album and would therefore not be counted in the singles chart.

This was to prevent certain labels cheating by increasing the number of tracks on a 12" in order to gain more sales and enter the charts.

New Edition - Popcorn Love - 11-Jul-07 12:21 AM
It's worth tracking this 12" down for 'Pass The Beat' it's a great hidden Electro Funk tune that has long been overlooked. It has tight minimal 808 programming from the legendary Arthur Baker, vocoder action from Marice Starr (Jonzun Crew) and guest vocals from MC Globe (Soul-Sonic Force).

John Foxx - Mr. No - 09-Jun-07 07:36 AM
John Foxx’s trademark tight CR-78 beat arrangements alongside robotic bleeps & menacing synths make this one of the darkest early Electro records to ever come out. The fact that the original version was released back in 1980 on the B-Side of ‘No-One Driving’ means it pre-dates ‘Computer World’, ‘Planet Rock’ and ‘Clear’ which makes it all the more amazing and goes to show how far ahead John Foxx was. New Religion did a great job in re-releasing this long lost gem onto 12”.

Time Zone - Wildstyle (Special New Mix) - 07-Jun-07 02:20 AM
The original music for this release was by a German band called ‘Wunderverke’. Bambaataa was introduced to their music by ‘Rusty Egan’ from ‘Visage’. On some of the labels the music is credited to Wunderverke & on the UK release it’s credited to Rusty Egan. Also look out for the sample of ‘Metal on Metal’ from Kraftwerk’s ‘Trans Europe Express’.
