An excellent little sub-label with some nice edgy Drum and Bass pieces on each release. I particularly like Aquasky's 'Airforce'. For the damage it used to do to the dance floor I feel it was rather overlooked.

Also if I remember rightly, similarly to that of the Moving Shadow 2 on 1 series, when put together, the rear covers of the full release copies make up a picture of an insect like creature. . .

B-Jam - Gangsta Boogie / Don't Play - 05-Oct-08 04:15 PM
AA: Don't Play - This is a magical piece of unpretentious jump-up jungle, sampling from the Jeff Pollack film featuring Tupac Shakur "Above The Rim". Enjoyable on every listen with its uplifting melody and well timed vocal snippets that gradually help build to the drumming crescendo half way through the track. Great to start a set with or simply to listen to at home. Certainly another track that demonstrates why 1996 was such a tremendous year in terms of D variety.

Erykah Badu - Bag Lady (Dune Remix) - 11-Apr-06 05:45 AM
My favourite ever drum & bass bootleg and one of my all time favourite tunes. The vocals just sit beautifully over the lively two step beats while the melody entwines itself gently into your consciousness. Perfect summer piece. No idea who did this but would love to know!

Various - Late Night Squeeze EP - 05-Apr-06 07:04 AM
Late Night Squeeze (Title track)-
One of my all time favourites, I’ve really hungered for this tune which is a quite a rarity these days as far as I’m concerned, especially with the state of much Drum and Bass nowadays. However, this is the kind of track that makes me feel proud to still be listening after all these years. First heard this played by Fabio in Summer 2003 on his BBC Radio 1 show and three years down the line my hopes for a release were starting to dwindle, I really thought this had been forgotten about and was about to consign it to the mythical archives of the all too commonly unreleased Drum and Bass tune; but thankfully on this occasion I was wrong. Calibre’s collaboration with S.T. Files simmers amid the heat of sultry female whisperings and delicate jazz touches over a low slung bassline – old soul baby!

Grooverider - The Prototype Years - 08-Mar-06 03:37 PM
Silver Blade -

Huddling beneath a baron rocky outcrop, the last swathes of daylight feebly drown amidst the swelling oil slick slithering its way eastward into the starless cerulean sky.
Forked lightening momentarily illuminates the bleak rock-strewn landscapes, an infinite expanse stretched out like the blackened frothing waves of a rabid ocean.
This track summons such vivid imagery with every listen.

Back in ‘96-’97 amongst a barrage of ‘tech-step’, this tune sounded so fresh it was hard to comprehend. Whilst remaining as dark as anything around, if not darker, it sliced the blueprint two-step sound to shreds. The beats pounce unexpectedly after the relatively subdued intro, actually sounding metallic - like swords clashing. Midway, an inexplicably malevolent intensity descends upon the track, a pervading sense of foreboding, much like the eerie calm before the storm; eight bars later the whole track is plunged into an apocalyptic, distorted reece-bass crescendo. It was this kind of experimentation and intensity in his tracks that made Dillinja so prolific an artist and ensured he remained alongside only a handful of others at the cutting edge of the Drum & Bass sound. Many people credit Boymerang with being the first to use this break, but as far as I am aware it was Dillinja who first used it – and on this track.
