Electric Universe - Unify - 24-Feb-06 08:36 AM
A very nice album which major singularity resides in the use of warm & springlike tones.

The king of Harmony Boris Blenn delivers with Unify a splendid old goa trance album with some energic (6,7), others floating (1,4)and chill out (9,10) stuffs but always with quality.

no real bad tracks ,may be i find Exciter a bit weaker.

Slum (2) - Make Rainbow In Your Slum - 20-Feb-06 07:58 AM
Slum's sound is very close to Phi's one, at the little difference the tones are less polished, more twisted. You almost always find a funky bass & frequently electric riffs. Now here are some specifities in each track:

1> Welcome, welcome seems to says the 30' intro in Future Is Ours with a big mischievous smile. I don't know if it comes from an old olympic games or a military musical band but it makes your eardrums fully open as it's a totally unexpected way for lauching the album.
2>From 2'15 you're submerged uder a fireworks of sharpy tones then with the break appears 2 new leads, one floating in the background & the lead one is very hacked but in the same tone quite soft.
3>Some brassy tones comes from 3'28. As it's the longer track (9'09), the tune evolves & turns into more cosmic morning & light on the end (from 7'54) .
4> There's a barking lead around 1'10. The attraction takes form under a robotized lead from 2'40 to 3'30.
5>It's more retained at first. On the final, there's an interesting fx on the electric riffs from 5'05.
6>There's a break based on a windy or reactor sample just a after short mewing (at 3'30). Otherwise, this tune is the one which looks like the most to the Phi's productions at equality with track1.
7> The rythmic is more hard-tek influenced (from 1'10) & the lead is more dark-noisy-apocalyptic (from 3'00); indeed globally here the atmosphere is more raw.
8>Come back to more usual Slum harmonies with a focus here on the metallic leads, like from 1'50 with this highly muted metal lead. It's a Mad stuff, but the public enjoy as their applause attest at 3'44. Then a little trick appears in the rythmic, it's like a photo-clic sound when you push the button to take a picture.
9> There's many sounds in the background, from 2'16 it reminds the sounds in the metro. Here the guitar lead is hugely streched at 3'50.
10> Last but chill one progresses like an urban walk under a night & starry skyscape.

Ok, so if you were a Phi's fan, i think there's 90% of chance you'll enjoy this Slum's album too, the surprise in less.
For those who still don't know Phi's sound, let's describe Slum's sound as "hard-neo full on-goa".

Dissociactive - Blockout - 07-Jan-06 10:32 PM
In Blockout you will find melodies, metallic sounds, high energy, night boisterous silly envoronment, pumping beats plus electrising riffs; some nice voice samples are present too on several tracks.
Moosya In space could remind you some of the old school Dikovsky's tunes (i.e the energy coming out from Alien Pump).
With the 3 last songs i've got more difficulties due to my tiredness resulting from the involvement due to the big sound style & simply because of a lower originality & quality from these tunes too. In a way, it's a positive point for those who only desire full intensive productions from start to conclusion, without any softer or chilled tune on the end.
Is it shrill night Full On or soft Darkpsy, i don't know & don't really want to (let just say it somehow evolves between both); however i'm sure about one thing Blockout is Body Music. Play it loud!

Procs - Stuck In The Oven With Me - 05-Jan-06 05:45 AM
Procs produces mental & fine darkpsy with a techno groove which a good thing changing from the ultra dominant smashing heavy darkpsy beat.
It's easy to listen & furthermore the album receal a smooth flow.In another hand, while progressing the listen, the linear aspect can bother you more or less quickly. On several tracks, can be felt some musical touchs influences.
But the too much linearity of the album bungles what could have be an album incarnating the darkpsy's renew as part of a domestic's listen; few was missing, that's a pity .

James Reipas - Uwaga - 01-Jan-06 11:07 AM
James Reipas's sound is unique, why? Because it's a mix of live acoustic instruments & hardware synths with Midi system, furthermore musically the tracks are electic in a bald, even strongly bald style which is truely atypic for the psytrance scene. By the way when i'm saying unique sound, i'm the first convinced it won't match everybody's taste due to the bald dimension.
However, let's come back to the electic side of the album, inside Uwaga you'll be able to find electro (tracks 1,2,5,9), rock (T 3,4,7), classical music (T 10), cold (T 1,7,8) & pop (T 2,4,5,9,11) influences.
About the 2 last tunes missing: Nopsakka is the straightest suomi sound with, like overall the album, a live rythmic played & Return starts like a climatic ambient tune then evolves into more suomi dancefloor sound with soft 303 loops.

Full on's Djs & hardcore lovers pass your way.
