Soul Conspiracy - Say What! - 27-Jun-07 02:18 AM
Very nice record! Side A tracks are amazing:
- original version has french house influence and will be nice for a wicked house party with a lot of ladies on the dancefloor
- Olav remix is a stomping jacking-house hit - nothing more to say, it's a bomb!

Side B tracks are plain - you may listen to them, you may not, you won't lose anything

Ramp - Rock The Discotek - 16-Apr-07 03:02 PM
Unfortunately there is no credit list for this release, even the original vinyl (which I have in my collection) pack has not. Side A tracks sound like modern house of mid-90, Pizzaman-style pads and pianos.

As for me the best track on this record is Euro dub version (a mixture of direct and broken beats with classic pianos) - unfortunately I don't know who made it, it is still a bomb for any dancefloor and when I play this record during my sets even in 2007 - people are dancing (please don't forget that this record was released in 1994) and asking me: "What was that track with "Rock the discotek" sample? That was really great"...

Abd Al Malik - Le Face À Face Des Coeurs - 12-Apr-07 02:48 AM
The first solo album of the leader of N.A.P. (New African Poets). Album balances between classical french hip hop sound and modern new-wave french hip hop music (which most likely sounds like our-days mainstream american hip hop).

Sulee B Wax helped Abd Al Malik to create an outstanding album which "old-skoolers" and even young people who don't know the history of the French rap will like. It combines the original french sound as it was in early classical french hip hop records and bouncy electronic pumping rhythm which is typical for american hip hop. Texts are still up to the mark and even more to say - more sensible then the ones Abd Al Malik wrote for N.A.P.

The only thing which may prevent to appreciate this album at its true value is the french language. It is necessary to know this language because for this album you have to understand what Abd Al Malik is talking about in his texts.

LFO - Frequencies - 03-Apr-07 11:09 AM
X-Mix by Dave Clarke - that was the first time I heard LFO mixed with other electro tracks. The track under the name "We are back" was taken down in that great electro mix by Dave Clarke - it is the greatest electro mix I ever heard.

As for LFO, I think that their "Frequencies" album (the third WARP release) established WARP as a progressive and openminded record company on the electronic scene. Great bass line, outstanding percussion - it was (and currently IT IS) the brilliant album for 1991 year and a Must-Have-Item for all electronic music lovers for these days. And it doesn't matter if we heard these tracks many times in different mixes and compilations - the original album should be present in every collection of electronic music!

Various - Dance Exclusive 2 - 30-Mar-07 02:13 AM
This it the best compilation from Dance Exclusive series in my opinion. All well-known artists with well-known tracks and remixes except a track from Artifact.

It is the first track and the best track for the moment which was bought by Gala Records for their compilations from Artifact: French-house style with filtered disco samples and a voice sample from an old disco hit. This track was a real hit in Moscow - it has been played in prime-time on Megapolis FM for about 2-3 months - one of the biggest radio stations in Moscow.

Artifacts contract with Solo Records (UK) is currently expired and now he is producing tracks for russian media market: original productions and remixes.

Most of these tracks are bootlegs (2step remixes) and weren't signed to any label, but GALA Records is interested in his music (pop/house production) so we are waiting for Artifacts new tracks/remixes.

His other new tracks signed by Gala Records are available at Dance Exclusive 3 compilation ("Kiss my dick" - as for me it is boring dark electro house with guitars) and at Dance Love Songs ("With Love" - simple house production with a loop of some voice sample but very nice bass line)
