Dogs Of War - Dogs Of War - 18-Aug-08 02:54 AM
This is a great record and praise for a re-release of such a record. But upon listening it became sadly clear that the sound quality is mediocre at best. 'Spaciula' is completely unplayable due to some terrible distortion. I can't understand why anyone would accept such a sound to be delivered from a mastering professional. It may be the source material that has been used or a lousy mastering and cutting job. Whatever the reason they might as well have left the first track off entirely. I'm afraid i'll have to go out and look for an original to be able to fully enjoy the album as it was once meant.

In all it's kitschy corniness, this record is pure genius. I don't know who Patsy or his friends are, but they must have had a good time back in the days. This record just radiates fun. The bad speed modulations (presumably from the DJ's turntables) only add to the authentic feeling. There's some seriously funky tunes on this one, some of which have luckily been repressed so people can enjoy them once again. My cover has some water damage, if someone has a spare, i'm interested to buy or trade.
Womack & Womack - Life's Just A Ballgame - 29-Jan-07 11:53 AM
I was blown away when i bought this on a guess, after being alerted to the womacks by (re)discovering 'conscious of my conscience'. I never really liked the original that much, but this is a deep piece of work, especially the dub mix.
Snatch (5) - Another Brick In The Wall - 24-Oct-06 07:24 AM
A funny detail about this record, in 'Another Brick In The Wall' the vocoder answers 'yes, you need an education'. i don't know if it's meant as dark sarcasm or as a serious comment.
Various - DJ Hell Presents: My Definition Of House Pt. 2 - 04-Sep-06 08:04 AM
Rise From Your Grave has been pressed at +4% here and sounds like it has been recorded from vinyl or was just mastered too loud. All this doesn't really distract from the fact that this is a great Pierre track in his wild pitch style.
