Various - Dissolving Clouds - 16-Jan-08 06:01 AM
It’s like something that changes the world, at least for the people who listen to it. Just imagine, when many people are introduced to this compilation, how the universe and reality are affected. Every track is fantastic. They are not some kind of good, or so-so, or even very great! Every track is at least masterpiece and unique masterpiece.
1.Eat Static - ufo Over Trenchtown Everything starts from the beginning. Who thought Eat Static could make only some great Goa, Psy or even Break music, were totally wrong. What is the connection between Reggae and ufo? I know there are many common issues, but just try to express it better then Eat Static! “ufo Over Trenchtown” starts to prepare you for the trip, like marijuana in the very beginning. So let’s go now…
2. Gaudi vs. Tripswitch – Subdown These two artists are fantastic separately and just imagine what they could do together. The result is that you are high and starting to notice some strange things. You know how it is, like you speak, speak and suddenly you realize everybody’s silent. What was that? Something appears for a second. Where.. Did you do that? What? Wait.. omg!! But still you are human, just high, but everything is waiting for you! When the song going silent in the end you know it will happen. Coming..
3. Kaya Project - Raag To Ragga And it came! This sound, is it holophonic or something makes you understand where you are. Sure, peak is not here yet but this is the moment when there’s no way back. Now you cannot sleep if you want, because you are not alone and “you” is not controller by “you”. You are woman, who sings in your somewhere. Drums are played, sitars are weeping, polyphonic songs are being sang and ninjas are flying.. in your head! And the violin! If you have any negative feelings, better leave everything there, while you can still understand world and can hear violin sounds. Otherwise you may be frightened such that smell shit. Your shit!
4. Alex Theory - Voodoo Dub Haha, you thought you are taken to mental hospital? No, dear! It was the first wave only, so now have a little rest. No grass any more, no water but feel the lightness, understand that the best you can do is to be kind and positive. If you cannot, listen to this little track, feel better and follow me. Let that woman sing, she’s so nice.
5. Liquid Stranger - Liquid Stranger On The Run (7:31) Look! Did you think there was only chilly or Reggae? Everything together! Hush, wait.. what is this sound? It’s shit, f@#k me. Buhahaha! Looks like that woman is a man, gay and not in your head but he’s not in this reality at all, hah. What the hell, do you want reality and mummy? Red Pill you punk!
6. Legion Of Green Men - Blowbaq You are lucky it was Cubensis and only 2 grams, or if it have been Mexicana 3-4 grams you would not have been such “normally”! If you wonder how you would feel with that, listen to Ambient Systems volumes better. This creepy sound is clock ticking, of your biological clock. Did you think it was only hormones, neurons and enzymes? No! There’s real clock in your head with arrows that scratch you brain curves. So this was the sound. But it’s not showing correct time. Don’t worry; there green men will correct it, or whole legion of green men! That’s ok. Stop, he may die. That’s it!
7. Eiji - Digimunk With correct time you understand how the universe looks like, but even this is not most important. I mean when you maybe know something, maybe not, or both. This knowledge has colors and you can touch it. Try out hard, maybe you can recall. Ah, not hard, but softly, calm down, breath calmly. Go over Makyo, watch Dakini, that’s it! Know why you have done this ;)
8. Peyote Sound System - Aqua Dub (6:38) So, when everything is changed and now we know what and how, let’s taste sweat of everything. The peak has already gone and you know, right now you can’t go back to it! It exists only in the past and only memories remain. By the way, have you noticed you’ve been walking on the wall for quite long time? And what color is your favorite pattern? Blue? Let it be blue. Now when you know great secret let it be any color you want.
9. Mauxuam - Ulezak (8:37) You are still there, but minute by minute you are noticing reality pressing you weak perception. Slowly you are coming back to your body. But no! Let’s sit down and listen to the music, it will take you back. Now you understand what you were and you won’t be the same anymore and the point is quite different then you thought it was.
10. Erik The Viking vs. Odo - It's Not A Buddha (7:42) No, this is not a Buddha for sure! Buddha??! Have you recalled? Flashbacks will be part of your life from now :) And when you think you understood and remember everything, it’s not like that. Now stop trying, hangover (or what it is called here) is starting, 5 hours passed and dance will be great activity. Let’s stop thinking, maybe will go back for several minutes. Is this man or woman? Who cares, fantastic rhythm!
11. Lunchbox - Jellyfish Roll Dutch, Danish, Norwegian? What the sense? It’s Georgian, do you believe?! Fantastic, but now we are back. It’s difficult to get back to the flesh but not to the club asap, to stop thinking and hide in the dance, let brain rest and let the body to get tired, off and sleep. We have a fight ahead. Fight for the sleep! We must defeat light! Have more grass, maybe xtz but.. Jah will help anyway!
Welcome back!
Younger Brother - The Last Days Of Gravity - 31-Oct-07 03:48 AM
The second album from YB finally released after 2 years of waiting. Long ago before releasing it was covered with some legendary aura, and it could lead to some disappointment, what usually follows long-going expectations? But not with Simon Postford and Bejni Vaughan and their fantastic new team.
Half a year before release the tracks were heard at some performances(Camp Bisco 2007, Twisted Birthday Party) and even live performances(Ozora festival 2007). So from the very first sounds everybody understood this is something really different.
Benji and Simon were using their guitar playing skills even before, but in this album live instruments are in leading roles. 3-4 months before the release some videos were also spread with rehearsals from studio work, so that all could feel the atmosphere of new album. It's combining many kinds of styles, not only from electronic genre. I suppose British culture and origins of the artists had great influence on their work. So that many could notice Pink Floyd and other art-rock band-like tunes (Yes, Camel, heard some could notice even Jethro Tull influence!) in the tracks.
1. Happy Pills (The Journey begins) The journey begins. And this is great beginning! It's not secret that all psychedelic culture is based on mainly magic drugs so this beginning is like first minutes of acid trip peak, when you realize everything is different and great secret is not secret anymore!
Music transforms all the time, new effects and sounds are appearing and disappearing but they're gathered in harmony. Happiness fills the body while listening to this song, you feel the universe, oh god, where have I been before, why is it so fantastic, why, why?
2. All I want (Because) Why? Maybe because you did not know what to want. But Salvador Dali has better answer. Just believe you are paranoid, insane and you will have the answers like nobody else can give! Paranoiac Critical Method!
This track is masterpiece. You can notice Pink Floyd influence (mainly guitar slides) and Jean Michele Jarre. But anyway his is unique music! Male vocals incoming after the middle is well integrated in the great harmony. Want also to notice drums part, it's exactly like what it have to be, nothing less or more. And the last part. Got stuck in it? Me - Yes!
3. Elephant Machine (Getting Hard) This track maybe goes to the past, in Shpongled past. Frankly past Shpongle maybe was better, but that guitar chords and melody coming from about 4th minute changes everything! You still understand that this is now and here, and there will be future soon.
4. Your Friends Are Scary (No future) But with next track future not comes. The moment frozen, it's eternal. This track also reminds me Shpongle, but not as much as previous one. It has more colors and there's some 'undermusic' meaning covered, which I could not catch clearly. Well, not my favorite tracks.
5. I Am a Freak (This is the future) When I've heard this track from Twisted DVD bonus CD, I was really pleased but! Here, in Album this is part of the great story so now I am pleased much more. Also sounds are clearer and toy can maybe feel that thin edge of reality.
Ok, about the music. Sure, this breaks baseline it not maybe very often used by Simon and Benji, but this is Brilliant try. They could do that. And that changing rhythm and new melody which is coming, coming, coming. Your patience is almost finished, you start to worry. And here it is. Now you thing this was what you were expecting, but no! There's much more! Use this Paranoiac-Critical method, do it. We are the freaks!
The best is if you can listen to this track like the first time. I could do that and know I can change this beautiful world! It can be more beautiful and there are no limits Jonathan!
6. Ribbon On A Branch (Calm down) Love. Do you know what love is? Well you need about 8 minutes to get closer to the meaning. This track is electronic and more harmonic. I mean more mild, worm and expressing. Why people should kill when they can love? But this is rhetoric question and everybody knows the answer, but very few understand. These guys understand it clearly!
7-8. Sleepwalker Part 1 and 2 (Plateau) Shpongle again? No, it's something different. The first part is calmer, and the second one is again aggressive a bit, even more then a bit. But in this part I think Hallucinogen and Prometheus are better separately.
9. Psychic Gibbon (Goodbye freak) Are you feeling you are getting back to the usual world? Has exactly 1 hour (or 6-7 hours?) of colorful, intelligent and full of knowledge and new feelings and emotions, deep and fantastic trip finished already? Yes, maybe you are right, but where is at least one flashback? The first one from the trip, which usually appears exactly after coming back to the body? Here it is dear sirs and madams! Some say this is perfect music but I don't agree as 'Perfect music' is whole album. Again, it's the first reminder about the past album... Did you listen to it carefully? Have you become cleverer? Do you have something to say? No?! Then go back to the start. But if yes, make conclusion. This song is like resume or abstract of whole album, with sadness of coming back. For me it's like that. I've cried when listened to it for the first time, I swear. There was everything: joy, sadness, worrying and calmness, smile and tears. But the strongest was happiness. I recalled the first track, went back to it, and flew.
So… Maybe this is not such 'musical' review of this song, but sorry about that. I can not speak ONLY about music while talking regarding this album. Good luck in experiences with this album.

Makyo - Rasa Bhava - 02-Oct-07 01:31 AM
The first Makyo release.. and it's fantastic, real brilliant album! Starting with dakini, free enterprise as a mantra leads us to strange outer world.. And there are not only words, but it works! after great kick-off you're starting to make experiments with your perception, with Devabandha (Tantric Laswell Mix) one can go to long long trip which never ends, even after finishing the album!.
Every track has some unique sound, unique relation with the listener. It's ambient, but sometimes feels like heavy fluent waves beating.
Musically it's very rich, full of genuine instruments accomplishing with wide range of electronic effects.
True masterpiece!
