Mikael Simpson - De Ti Skud - 07-Jan-07 11:28 AM
Mikael Simpson, one of the big names in the Danish electronic scene. This release is simply amazing. The atmosphere on this album is so special. You can almost hear that this music has been made in his apartment, in the heart of Copenhagen. It is very melancholic, and after a few listens to this CD, you feel like you have reached down to a deeper layer of the CD. Opening track "Sexponering 2004" is starting out slowly with some floating pads. A female voice is talking over the track about how there are different sounds in every city. She speaks about the sounds of Copenhagen that you hear even though you're not listening. Second track "Du Drømmer Om Et Andet Sted" is my favorite track on this album, the pads are so sweet, and Mikael Simpson's voice is really good on this one. The chorus is really nice. He sings about how he just wants to run away alone with his girlfriend. The song is about how you are dreaming of another place (drømmer om et andet sted). Another thing worth checking out on this album is the track "Virus". If you listen to Trentemøller's "Miss You" available on "The Last Resort" and "Stella Polaris" you will find that these tracks are almost similar. This is because Mikael Simpson and Anders Trentemøller have worked a lot together, and are good friends. Trentemøller recently played at "P3's Guldshow" and Mikael Simpson played bass for him. All in all this release is just superb. The ability to create a special atmosphere and the cool lyrics makes this album so good. Really worth bying!
Röyksopp - The Understanding - 15-Dec-06 04:40 AM
D3: "Dead To The World" is such a gem on this release. The melodic build-up is perfectly arranged. The instruments are really complimenting each other and it takes the melody to a new level, constantly changing small detail in the rythm. The lyrics are fantastic! And the vocals are very smooth and almost whispering. This is worth buying the album for.
