Micali, Ajami & Wasley - You Don't Need It (Part 1) - 21-Feb-09 08:38 AM
It's all about Micali Dub. Starting off with some smooth echoes to set the night mood, the remix then moves off into some tribal/tech variations. Interesting bassline which with the perfectly reworked vocals gives a special atmosphere to the track. And it never dissapears, from the first second of listening up to the end. Comparing to the other similar tracks here you can't guess what you will hear next, you just close your eyes and enjoy the whole soundscape. The way Chris Micali reworked the track reminds me of "I Don't Know", another work by these guys, but if it can be called a bit boring or that it needs some more work on it, "You Don't Need It (Micali Dub)" doesn't need anything. It's just perfect as it is. Great start for the relaunched Caffeine label.

Steve Callaghan (2) - Shelter - 27-Oct-08 03:33 PM
Absolutely great release. Got acquainted with original mix long time ago (i think it first appeared in 2004) but it still has a nice and fresh sound. The bassline as well as the melody and vocals go very well with each other. A real bomb and a dreamy trance track, 2 in 1, don't know why it's not a well-known tune.

What about remixes.. Thought they won't sound nice cause it's always that new mixes of a great track are of no good, but i should admit those two are an exceptions. Evasive restructures and speeds up the track but keeps the vocal line. The dreamy atmosphere has gone this time and we have a true progressive remix as a result.
Frase mix was changed. The sample of it i heard had another sound, i used to like it as much as original. Although i like the released version too. An interesting riff and uplifted chords are making this rework perfect for trance mixes. "Four walls" but a big world inside. Became curious about other Frase works after i heard this one.

Absolutely great release. No more words needed.

Terradia Feat. Damona - Drowning In Dreams - 19-Nov-07 02:34 PM
A rare example of a good track with versatile mixes. Andre Proulx aka Terradia created a nice tune with warm synths, euphoric breakdown and really unique vocals. Why unique? Three following mixes proove it. Every remixer found his own vision of Damona's voice so that it sounds different each time.

Magellan Project Remix has a familiar ALT+F4's influence with some more chords and new melody. These changes added a nice positive feeling to the track. On the contary, Arksun Remix is an anxious example of a dream's end. Both are uplifting trancers although. Özgür Can Remix is the last and my favourite mix from the bundle. Özgür payed no attention to the whole uplifted atmosphere and made a smooth progressive remix with completely reworked vocals. Can't but say that it's one of my favourite tracks from him.

In fact, i'm not an uplifting trance lover but this release is a true exception... and not just an exception, but a massive tune indeed!

Yvel & Tristan - Pillow - 13-Jun-07 07:33 PM
Original Mix of Pillow... Can't find enough words to describe it. Breathtaking! In the middle of the track you can hear some vocals, they don't suit the bassline but that's their obvious advantage. Those sounds on the background as well as the melody can be described as ambient, but when bassline strikes up, we have a true progressive breaks tune here! As always, remixes on the brilliant tracks are forbidden and Jacob Todd's rework is worse than Original.

Freek Geuze Pres Gues - A Sonnet - 18-Apr-07 06:51 PM
Well, Geuze's style is rather familiar to me, but this alias is something like a small separate island from his main style.
I got acquainted with this track from Mellomania and was very impressed from the "first sight". Both original and remix are very beautiful, with that heaven-like soft melody. Redshift did a great job and turned a pensive original into a sad melodic tune. Awesome release, i recommend!
