Utterance - Grant Me Utterance - 20-Oct-08 11:22 PM
I actually never heard the original version of Grant Me Utterance before these remixes but I don't think I would cared if I never heard Billy's version. DaRand Land's Pain Dub must be the one of the best remixed tracks I heard to date, a deep tune that contains energetic basslines & hats and exquisitely edited vocals.
DaRand is truly talented artist, a rare find, someone who really does understand the concept of true deepness. This is a perfect example why such a thing a remixing exists in our modern music era, this is remixing to excellent effect.
AJ Hunter - Pressure Point E.P. - 30-Sep-08 11:43 PM
Adam Johnson must really be questioned on how he managed to produce this brilliant EP, I wonder what motivated him, as I would love to see or hear the source of this beauty. I was initially, not a big lover of techno until I heard "kung Pow" from one of Chris Gray's mixes "Pangs Of Passion" And I tell you... I was stunned at the creativity and the wonderful arrangement of all the instruments. At that point, driven by curiosity, I had to hear the rest of the tunes and when I did, I was blown away by the detailed production and extremely groovy basslines. As the above review has mentioned, some beautiful echoing chords which make this EP simply amazing.
If by any chance you are able to get your hands on this EP, pay and pay big, if you have too, because the chances of you hearing something this good are extremely minimal. I still to this day, ask myself how Adam did this, one hell of a producer & a seriously talented chap!
Manoo - Satisfy EP - 22-Sep-08 05:42 AM
I received a whole load of music one evening, and sat 5 hours straight listening, trying to find some good sounds. I tell you, that there is nothing more irritating than to spend so much time, and come out with nothing... but then, just as I was about to give up this EP suddenly lands in my ears and it immediately revived any energy that I lost (or I thought I lost).
The key in Manoo's releases is the high hats in my opinion, forcefully drawing energy from you that of coarse, you are more than willing to give. The mean basslines, straight forward deep house (if I may say) that has very little components within the tracks, but as a listener, you have lot to receive once you catch on what art is being portrayed through this type music. The tracks usually start in this ripe mood which is unorthodox, but unique and a skill which is not easy pull off, which further emphasizes how truly amazing this EP is.
The tunes I felt spoke to me were Koko & Please: Cannot image a deep house set without playing one of these tracks, cannot image life without them!
Deep, The - The Earth EP - 15-Sep-08 02:18 AM
Thought I should add my 2 cents worth to this great EP, since it seems the stand out track for me has not been exposed.
I really loved all the tracks that are on here but one stands out, it being "gratio's tiger" I first heard it on Vinny Da Vinci's deep house sounds volume 1 compilation and I must admit, I was puzzled by the inclusion of this track. After a couple of listens, Simultaneously, I fell in love with it and understood later on, why Vinny included this beautiful piece of music. After those questions of curiosity were answered, the curiosity switched and now lied on the producers, the master minds behind this. After finding out that it was The Deep, I was surprised to be honest, because I couldn't link up this style of deep house with any other producer therefore, I thought it had to someone I did not know. But as it is with house music, you just never know even when you think you do.
The track itself is a very simple tune, with a looped voice every 8 beats and that bassline almost demanding you to get up and dance. This is an example of how less was manipulated to become more, to show why simple can sometimes bring the best out music. Free flowing music that you feel has no boundaries, it almost sets you free every time you listen to it, adding yet another dimension to the deep house tag. Truly inspiring music for those who don't love deep house music, or not yet, or for those who want to grow within it.
61 Players - Niche EP - 11-Sep-08 07:14 AM
I first heard "Outside" on a compilation called Deep House Sounds 4 mixed by Vinny Da Vinci And I must say, I only play that CD because of this track.
Joe Lucas really produced something beautiful, soulful but still makes your body move. Very soft and subtle changes on the piano by Barney make this tune one of my favorites. Nice and solid bassline and simple drum pattern just show how less can be more.
I am though surprised that not many people know this EP and I feel sad that deep house lovers don't have this precious record.
