Ronin - Luxuru - 05-Sep-09 12:58 PM
Ronin aka Jonathan Axelsson has been turning out deep, beautiful tracks for years. His EPs for labels like Placktown Sounds, Primary, and Deep4Life were received with glowing reviews from the journalistic community. More recently he has been hard at work with an album project to be released on the Brooklyn based Statra imprint. Here for Driftwood, Ronin got together with the boys from Driftwood and crafted an absolutely masterful four track EP that might just be the label's best release thus far. With another one already in the pipeline for Driftwood, this EP is a sign of the good things to come. Deep, sexy, house music is the order of the day.
Drain Pipe - New Life - 27-Feb-09 10:43 AM
This record is a masterpiece by Jean Frank Cochois. Smooth basslines, nice grooves and true feelings this is the New Life. There are four dubbed-out house tracks on the vinyl. Released by the unforgettable Driftwood label in 2001. This was the fourth release in the label's history. All four tracks are very mellow and very snappy. Mastered and recorded at the Silent Chamber by Drain Pipe aka Jean Frank Cochois. The sleeve artwork was created by UC Graphic.
Soda Inc. - Full Moon - 06-Dec-08 02:42 AM
Soda Inc. should be known under the fanciers in the music-scene in the meantime. After the release from a Mix CD and numerous appearances on divers and renowned Compilations (Bar1, Terrys Cafe 6, Warenkorb, etc), found also the first Soda Inc. 12inch on Shayan-Music it way directly into the playlists from Djs like Ian Pooley, Swag, Laurent Garnier, David Duriez and Sasha (just to count a few). With "Full Moon" presented Babak Shayan and Jon Silva now their first own Longplayer. The two met each other in the year 2001 as both nearly at the same time joined work at the UCMG record-company and had to share an office together. They realised fast that their love for –specialised electronic- Music was not the only commonality of them. It arose a big friendship, which as well was inspiring in the musical aspect for both. When you are checking the musical conversion is specially the aesthetic style of producing attracting attention. With many Love for the small details are used elements from different kinds of music, so it is not possible to put Soda Inc. into a specialized genre. It concerns only about well produced electronic music in the broadest sense – melancholic, groovy and melodic like Trance but with tight coolness and understatement. Just call it: Neo-Trance!
Nor Elle - T A X I - 01-Nov-08 05:37 AM
"T a x i" is the 4th album of nor elle aka Terry Lee Brown Junior. After "Phantom Of Life" (1998), "Slapstick" (2001) and "Kombologi" (2006) nor elle defines his own borders of down beat and lounge once again. Concentrating on wide scapes reduced melodic insinuation this time, the album seems to work as a screen. Like a movie without dialoque or a documentary without comments the music gives room for own imaginations and projections. Creating an atmosphere of a nocturnally taxi ride Terry gives a theme, but the rest is up to the listener. Where the taxi drives, how fast or slow, wether the driver is a good or bad one may depend on the mood of the one who to dives into the calm and fantastic world of these wonderful narrative tracks. No instruction is included but leaning back and letting fantasy fly over a warm street at a coast, through a forest or the centre of an illuminated city. With this album Nor Elle created a masterpiece of emotionally charged music with the right instinct for great room effects and innovative sounddesign.
