Robert Miles - Robert Miles In The Mix - 11-Nov-08 06:36 PM
Wicked and awesome!
This mix cd is a bomb waiting to be detonated. Starts out with a chilled moment with the intro, but as soon as you hit track 3 you are in full speed.
Features some of the most beautiful sounds of semi early trance, back in 96 when the music scene was underground, and the names were unknown to the masses.
The cd is nothing like his own productions, so don't be surprised when you pop it in the cd player and expect the dream house sounds of Children or Fable.
Fast and Furious, the soundtrack is not recommended for listening to while driving. A speeding ticket is the risk!
Jewels within this record are Csilla and Ballistique.
Pet Shop Boys - Special '96 - 07-Nov-08 02:08 PM
The Elusive and extremely expensive Japanese Promo. Highly sought after, and coveted by many Pet Shop Boys fans.
I have seen this go for more than a thousand US Dollars.
A nice collection of songs, but not for that price.
Anyone lucky to have this should bet that it will only appreciate in time.
Pet Shop Boys excels at releasing extremely rare promos, and this is probably number one in the list of rarities.
There are a few other Japanese items in the rare list, as many of their fans are big on collecting Asian items.
A must have for the very serious collector.
Pet Shop Boys - About - 06-Nov-08 10:54 AM
No Music on this puppy. I got it at their concert a few years after it was originally released. Its a very interesting interview, explaining a lot of the background of the music, the lyrics, and the melodies.
I would expect to find this at any serious PSB collectors collection, but for anyone that is not a true follower, its a cd that can be missed.
Pet Shop Boys are masters at releasing different promos, interview CD's and a lot more stuff that their label pushes out when a new release hits the streets.
Some of the items reach high prices, but this one is not the case.
Angel City - 02-Nov-08 03:07 PM
It is pretty crazy that Robert Miles allowed to have this band with doubtful talent, to use his masterpiece Children. The track 'Do you Know' is a bad remake with vocals with this singer, who really makes it a cheesy dancey track.
I wonder where Miles was.... I know he was pissed when Tilt remade his Children, and that compared to this, is an excellent track.
I am not familiar with the rest of their production work, but I am not spending the time nor money to find out.
Oakenfold* - Anthems - 08-Oct-08 01:28 PM
This is a Cd for anyone who has been living on a deserted Island for a very long time. There are no new tracks here... Warner is cashing in on Old music.
On the other hand, its a nice collection to get, if you want many of these Anthems in one place. Almost every single tune is fantastic on its own, then mixed by Oakey, well, you get a quality product.
I don't think I would personally pay full price for it, as I have already purchased many of the music here in form of singles, either in vinyl, or cd single...
A must get for the completist, or someone new to the Scene...
