Reviews & Discussion:
Oh man, I am so waiting for this guy to release an album. When it comes to breakcore there's nobody better than Electromeca. His stuff, sometimes bordering on rhythmic noise, is just catchy as hell. Robotic, solid rhythms and cool beats, this is what it sounded like if hiphop was made in giant steelmills. What more can you ask for? Now release that CD, mr. Electromeca!
This album is a masterpiece. I have never ever liked downtempo vocal stuff like Under Byen before, but Henriette Sennenvaldt's beautiful voice instantly changed my view on music. For all you doubters out there: Slow, jazzy music (even in large doses!) CAN be beautiful instead of just 'dull' or 'boring'. Jesus Christ, every time I hear 'Byen Driver' I get goosebumps - it's just that damn good. Her voice is angelic, I think the best way to describe their music is by stealing a word that's often used for trance and IDM and whatnot: 'ethereal'. Yes, it's basically heavenly and as IDM it has the ability of making you think of moods and landscapes (try listening to 'Lenin' and NOT think about winter). Best thing about is that it's danish. Hah!
This is my favorite Deathchant release so far. All 4 tracks are really unique and excellent. Not the hardest of releases in any way, but the way Diplomat uses his samples is amazing.
I particularly like the combination of Pulp Fiction and screaming samples in 'The Screamer' (I can't remember where that scream's from right now, argh). Brainwave stands out a bit in that it almost sounds like hardtrance or trancecore or whatever you prefer. Sort of acidish synths and a choir in the background, but a nice hard bassline. The Running Man has a wonderful buildup with the speed constantly increasing until "and who loves you and who do you love and who loves you"-samples from the famous Ahnold movie start kicking in. It doesn't really get any better than this release.
Noize Creator, Made In Korea - Ballet Of The Chicks [Extended] / Black Kat, White Kat

Noize Creator's track is a fucking CRAZY breakcore version of Mussorgsky's classic track 'Ballet Of The Unhatched Chickens' (sometimes referred to as 'Ballet Of The Chickens In Their Shells). It is glitchy, childish and happy, but it's hard as hell! Probably one of the best breakcore tracks ever produced. Do yourself a favor and listen to the original before or after hearing Noize Creator's masterpiece.
On the flipside Made In Korea provides another joyful track with twisted singing and violins in the background (!?). Sounds like a hoedown on PCP. This is a must-have.
Brilliant concept. Very funny CD with a lot of good music too. I use the term 'music' as it's impossible to label this release with a genre or style (in this case that's a good thing).
If you've ever wondered how an apathetic rendition of Aphex Twin's Come To Daddy sounds like or if you find yourself frustrated over the lack of lyrics like 'A squid eating dough in a polyethylene bag is fast and bulbous' in your musiccollection, this just might be the CD for you. Better than your average mashup.
One of the most powerful vinyls ever released. This vinyl has all the energy you could possibly want, but without sounding like a parody of itself (unfortunately a common characteristic within this genre). Every track is an instant classic, as a matter of fact my personal favorite is the B3 track Kill Anyone. The pinnacle of Cunt Records and terror as a genre.
I really like this release. The whole 'fuck you' attitude from Postal 2 transcends beautifully into hardcore samples. The bassdrum at around 3 mins in the A2 track is one of the most awesome things I've heard in a very long time. That might actually be the only thing I don't like about this release, the buildups of the tracks are a bit too long. I definitely prefer the Speedfreak side to Radium's, but both tracks don't 'kick in' until about 2:30, which is too long if you ask me. I prefer all killer, no filler :P
Excellent followup to the debutrelease, Chiped Plastic. Utabi shows an amazing talent for producing on this album. On this album you find two of my favorite tracks, but it's hard to guess they're produced by the same guy. We have Wave Ladder, which is a manic yet joyful IDM track with a superb melody, then right afterwards Utabi totally slows down and brings you Set Her Eyes Xochipilli, one of the most soothing and relaxing tracks you'll ever hear. Japanese melodic electronica at it's finest, recommended for Joseph Nothing fans. | ||||
That comment is tragically ironic after they just produced one of the tracks on the new CD by none other than Britney Spears (!) herself.
I still have massive respect for Freescha and their own output, but I'm really hoping they'll do more tracks like Kid Brother and Radio Heart and less sugary pop like Heaven On Earth. But hey, everybody has to pay their bills, right?
