Dexorcist, The - D.exe E.P. - 06-Sep-06 03:43 AM
Would the incomparable Simon Brown have definitively turned the back on electro? After excellent “Wreknival” and “CardShark” Ep’s, respectively published on the SMB 16 and the Edge City 01, English has been asked to realize the fifth output of the French label Fdb Recordings leaded by Vstee, for a 12’’ with 4/4 tendency once again very distant from his usual style. What to disconcert, without disappointing, the purists of syncopated music, what also to delight the old ravers having deserted for a long time warehouses become by too hard or too partitioned. On A-side, half of Kronos Device delivers on the longplayer “Propulsion 151” a solid Dub Step underground piece made of urban melodies, quiet breaks and sharpened drums. If the whole track sounds relatively calm, the flip turns into an explosive pumping dancefloor register. Alternating between breakbeat rhythmic and tribal bass line, the grime “Demolition” signs a frightening industrial threat with gloomy strings. Opening on raggamuffin lyrics a la Prodigy, killer “Spreadout” combines with energy powerful kick, nostalgic old school trancey reminiscences, confusing distortions and positive vibes. Cross-over between the current electro scene and a completed time where Dance Music was part of Techno, this “D. Exe EP” is a new bomb to be put in the active of a daring artist unceasingly renewing itself. Splendid!

Dexorcist, The - The Wreknival EP - 15-May-06 04:27 PM
Rather known from his devastating electro bass works, Simon Brown (Control Tower, Battle Trax) signs with "The Wrecknival EP" the most amazing of the four 12's he published on French label SMB. Thanks to "Dirt Bag" on A side, the punk member of the DeadSilence Syndicate Band delivers an extraordinary 4/4 garage longplayer based upon old school rave layers to give goosepimples, tribal percussions, some heading lyrics and lots of well placed claps. A real dancefloor anthem, unstoppable and subtle at the same. The flip goes on in a quite similar register with "Blind Side", a nostalgic jewel made of controlled distortions and naive melodies, the whole enhanced by a frantic breakbeat rhythm a la The Bouncer early in the 1990's. At last, the UK artist returns on dark "Power Station" into his so characteristic syncopated style focused on industrial sounds, Sci-Fi elements and fearsome lyrics. Once again illustrated with talent by Perrine Arnaud, this EP combining visual and audio aesthetics is a complete success!

Deadsilence Syndicate Band, The / Bass Junkie - Suicide Bomber / Berzerker - 16-Feb-06 12:44 PM
The Dead Silence Syndicate Band presents its very first official output! Collective of six artists gathered around The Dexorcist (Control Tower, Buffalo Frequency), this punk exclusive live crew signs on the flip a "Suicide Bomba" worthy of its memorable performing done at the Teknival of Marigny in France at the beginning 2005. Combining digital machines and acoustic instruments, the track delivers a fearsome violin introduction. Then appears a powerful though slow down Drum & Bass rhythm enhanced by Krude (Audio Illusion) depressive vocals in a Prodigy style, dealing the story of one man trying to resist in a chaotic futurist society. Punctuated by incisive breaks, this dark and innovative killer tune is served on the reverse by an explosive unreleased cut from the like of Bass Junkie (Breakin, Firewire). Battle Trax mastermind shows a corrosive face on the heavy "Berzerker", an alienating piece based upon a rough robotic bass line, some 808 tonalities and a heading old school melody. Both sides filled up with Steve (Ramskull Design) and Ren (Dead Silence) impressive visuals, this murderer Picture Disc in the form of a split EP is a must have for all fresh electro lovers!!!

DJ Controlled Weirdness - Killer Virus EP - 08-Jun-05 12:25 PM
After Ian Miley aka Blackmass Plastics, what could be more natural than to welcome the other member of the Leyton Breakers in the person of Neil Keating? Keeping on its exploration of grime electro sound, Vstee's Parisian label, twinned with the South of London, invites Dj Controlled Weirdness (Audio Illusion/Unearthly) for one four titles of pure madness. On A side, the dark "Suburban Threatens" introduces a rather fast syncopated rhythmic, enhanced by strident 4/4 sonorities and intimidating vocoder. More aggressive, disastrous "Hardware Bass Attack" sounds like the perfect combination between ultra powerful beats and post industrial tonalities. To date, one of Neil's best compositions after the breakbeat "Killer Bee's", an explosive cut with funky influences available on the flip. At last, atmospheric "Grime Time" will return towards a less dark music, based on solid groovy melodies and samples of police sirens. A urban and essential underground release!

Dexorcist, The - Dextermination EP - 07-Mar-05 02:19 PM
Perfect prolongation of his "Quad Angle EP" double pack. Three ultra devastating cuts mark out a breakbeat electro focused EP where hip hop vocals, 90's style strings and Sci-fi sonorities combine in a brilliant way. The Dexorcist at his best to consider the quality of mind-boggling "Filth", the A side longplayer marked by a worked and astonishing rhythmic under confusing ravey distortions. If you liked "Tron", you will certainly not be disappointed by this fresh anthem. "Nu Contact" and "Rubba Dub" on the flip introduce two dancefloor titles very different one from the other: the first is composed of synthetic digressions over a persuasive bassline, the second is based on a slowed down rate though always involving, old school breaks and vibrating atmospheric melodies.
