Profile: I have been into techno, house, electronica etc. since the late 1980s and started buying vinyl in 1989. Most of my vinyl collection is from around 1991-97. I currently do not own a turntable so nearly all purchases nowadays are CDs. I do plan to buy another turntable in the future.
I like a mixture of styles, from industrial techno to deep house, as well as abstract/electronica. I also like some 70s funk/soul/disco, as they were instilled into me at an early age.
Favourite two producers/teams would have to be Carl Craig and Underground Resistance.
None of my records are for sale, I'm afraid, and I don't do MP3s.

Most of the material on this EP is hardcore/noise, but one track is an absolute killer. The track is Iron Orbit. It has the sinister, menacing quality of industrial/EBM combined with the depth and space of dub and was a favourite of Colin Dale on his Outer Limits slot. The sheer power of this track really sucks you in and it still sounds just as awesome 15 years after its release.
Definitely one for those into the darker side of electronic music.

Wow, what can I say? Ive been after this for a while and managed to get hold of a copy a few days ago.
This is one of the best compilations Ive heard in a long time. The emphasis is on warm, hypnotic and utterly beguiling grooves which reveal themselves further with repeated listening. Theres the odd diversion into breaks, downtempo and Brazilian styles too. I cannot emphasise the quality of the material on this compilation enough.
Favourites for me would be hard to pick but the tracks by Louis Haiman, Sans Soleil, Yellow Planet, Microworld and Rodenbush are highlights.
I dont know why this compilation is a Japan-only release. If Transmat have got any sense then they will make it more widely available by releasing it in Europe and the US.
Quite simply, if youre an electronic music fan, you need this disc.

Yep, theyve done it again.
The A side on this release is another killer from The Juan Maclean. Its less electro and more disco than the previous You Cant Have It Both Ways. The main ingredients are a wonderful spacey synth riff which is joined by funky guitar licks, disco syn-drums and chanted vocals. Sensual, sexy and dancefloor dynamite.
The B-side track by the Rapture, Killing, is one of their better ones, with scratchy guitar, Luke Jenners vocal yelps and spacey interludes.
All in all another top release on the DFA label and the Juan Maclean track I think will become another classic.

You Cant Have It Both Ways is a killer track, one of my favourite electro-based tracks of the last few years. It has a slightly sinister feel with a kind of Moroder-esque bassline and Nancy Whangs wonderfully sleazy vocals. The second half also introduces some icy new-wave synth melodies as well and just adds to the atmosphere.
My Time Is Running Out is a more laid-back, atmospheric affair with the odd vocodered vocal but aint as good as the A-side.
You Cant Have It Both Ways is the best thing that The Juan Maclean have done and is definitely worth tracking down.
