Headstate - In The Drum - 12-Jul-09 12:26 AM
Dark Progressive. The intro to the 24U mix starts with an echo-backed break (thatll go 4x4 after mid-song breakdown), a robotic voice speaking something indistinguishable (which soon morphs into a low-toned voice "In the drum") and strange sound effects reminding me of flying creatures from some mystical forrest aimed at 8 year old suspense lovers. Sparse beginning. Which I like because you can play without waiting for something recognizable to pop in.

Most of the sounds stay in range, never going too high. Except for part of the percussion. Though it gives the song a swing and movement for dance, it also couldve been one of the necessary evils of beat making that shouldve been left out this particular mix, or toned down... A Lot! Or simply replaced by a similar, but non-destructive, sound. Well, weve got EQ. Aint the same. Just be real subtle.

The original mix keeps all the cool dark sounds lent out for the remix, but the beat is generically more... House-ier. Basically, it goes from being a breathing Beast living "In the drum" to a mere song when you flip disc. It does add a cool synth I missed in the 24U mix!

Various - Attack: A Tribute To The Legendary DJ Attack - 21-May-08 03:22 AM
If you havent heard it, really so worth to hear the "Speed Racer" (& the "Racer X") track, especially now that the movie is made.
Also a worth listen are Matrix & Let Me Take You for a slightly space-techno invasion-from-around-94 feel. Butta with Hip-House duo Pamp & Da Knox (Dino Latino makes a cameo too). Danger Zone sounding like Deep House keys being played Break Beat fast. Yeah, theres some fun stuff in here.

Oooh look! I found a "Bonus Mix" at the bottom of my original store-bought mix.

Wow, the fun never ends here does it? And I used to think that having a prize inside was so immature for some reason.
Thanks for bringing it back guys! Ima go play with mine Right Now.

Steve Loria - 15-May-08 11:44 PM
Steve Loria - DEEPDISCOHOUSEINFERNO was a mix tape that came out on cassette sometime between 1992-94. It had an orange sticker on both sides as the label.
I had it once but dont remember much else about it except that it was the first time I heard of House Of Gypsies also known as Todd Terry and his track Samba.
This is to note that the mix exists but since I dont physically have it I can not add the release.
