Paul van Dyk
Feat.
Hemstock & Jennings - Nothing But You - 16-May-03 02:17 AM
Generally, I don´t listen to trance at all. And although Paul has shocked me with quite some pretty cheesy sets at times, I tend to follow closely what he does - simply because he is such a nice fella and really lives for electronic music. 'Nothing But You' is a nice track, easy to listen to, not annoying whatsoever, a bit melancholic.
I was excited first to see that DJ Tomekk did a remix. The outcome however is a bit uninspired. The track crawls along rather downbeat oriented for some 8 minutes. Boring!
DJ Dag - Essential DJ Mixes Vol. 1 - 06-May-03 07:35 AM
Nice compilation by veteran DJ Dag. The often proclaimed 'Godfather of Trance' proves that he is much more than that. His later sets come with a pleasantly fresh mix of deeper house and techhouse trax.
Pretty sure, though, that many of his oldtime fans will only listen to CD2 of this package for Dag delivers what they´d come to hear him for over the last decade or so. But CD1 is definitely closer to the present and future sound of Dag.
Both CDs leave one with a somewhat mixed impression, though, as Dag chose to end both mixes with the worst possible tracks...
Tom Tom Club - Wordy Rappinghood / Elephant - 22-Mar-03 02:05 PM
Unbelievable that this record is 22 years old. It fits into any today´s house/electro set along some Tobi Neumann remixes...
Modjo - 11-Jan-03 01:48 PM
Modjo had to change their name into Modjo Band last year as the rights of the name Modjo belong to the club in Hamburg, Germany.
Naked Music Recordings - 04-Jan-03 01:12 PM
Naked Music is proof that there's still very fresh house sound coming from the US. I was very surprised when I first learned that the label is based in San Francisco, surely not a city a European housefan would turn to in search of deep house. Nakes Music has changed that completely. Brilliant music, but also great artwork and cover designs!
