Praga Khan - Visions And Imaginations - 14-Mar-08 03:22 PM
Features footage from the Tokio Dome and from the USA Tour (not shown on any of the other Praga Khan/Lords of Acid DVDs) plus many great music videos (incl. the hits Breakfast In Vegas, No Earthly Connection, Glamour Girl etc.).
Im still wondering why the Glamour Girl is shot in the video clip (?) but I like the video anyway.
Darling Nikkie appears for four songs @ Ancienne Belgique.
A very cool moment is "Phantisia Forever", when Darling Nikkie sings "My Trip ... Colors ... Moving, Changing And Rotating Like A Caleidoscope ... Im Not Afraid, I Feel One With The Universe ... Im Afloat On The Waves" and the crowd replies "Naked!",
but the absolute highlight of the Ancienne Belgique show is "Tausend Sterne" where belgian artist/dancer Inja Van Gastel delivers a gorgeous performance.

Dave Gahan - Hourglass Remixes - 12-Mar-08 09:48 AM
The shuffling samples and intricate sound layers make the "Saw Something" remix instantly recognizable as an Onur Özer track.
Onur Özers contribution to this remix is even more characteristic for the track than Dave Gahans voice. Onur gave the song a new vibe and made it one of my favorites on this album.
Booka Shades Club Mix of "Kingdom" and Sebastien Legers Remix of "Deeper And Deeper" are other highlights.
I would have liked to hear also "Endless" in a different version, which is my favorite on the original "Hourglass" album.
However, this collection of remixes is a sure recommendation for everyone who is into Depeche Mode, minimal techno or electronic club music in general.

Biosphere - Substrata² - 09-Feb-08 05:18 AM
This is Geir Jenssen at his best.
The lyrics are a mix of quotes from David Lynchs Twin Peaks
(Episode 9, 2002, Coma: "In my vision I was on the veranda of a vast estate, a palazzo of some fantastic proportion .. and I awoke with a tremendous feeling of optimism and confidence"), some more allusions to the power of the subconscious, german samples ("Hallo Schanghai - Ja, Bitte") and more weird stuff.
Hypnotically enveloping creepy electronica, designed to reward the careful listener. Highly recommended, something especially for the enquiring minds among us.

Björk - Pagan Poetry - 03-Feb-08 05:33 AM
I heard this remix for the first time while I was sitting in the Bar de Boeddha in Delft where it was played as a part of Paul Oakenfolds "Great Wall" DJ Mixes and immediately after I came home, I started searching a copy online. Im really glad that I found one of these (limited to 1000) records for an affordable price on Ebay, after keeping an eye out for it for some weeks (unfortunately all rr1000 releases are quite hard to find).
A very atmospheric recording. The perfect chill-out music. If you cant find (/afford) the vinyl, get Oakenfolds CD Sampler on Amazon, its the second track on the second "Perfecto" CD and this track alone makes the mix well worth buying.

Woob - Woob 1194 - 03-Feb-08 04:53 AM
It is hard, if not impossible, to decide whether this or Gas0095 is my favorite em:t release.
While Gas0095 has more beat-driven technoid power, Woob1194 makes better use of the em:t-typicall 3D sound imaging system: Woob1194 truly is spatially expanded music!
It is a very original work which immediately draws the listeners attention to it and then carries the listener away into an unforgettable odyssee through its mellow and sinister beauty, its majestetic moments of silence, its deep beats and powerfull basslines, bird sounds and weird horror movie samples. A landmark in the history of ambient music.
This CD is listed in the music library on the Erowid-Web site as an album for those with interests in spirituality, philosophy, entheogens and drugs. And it is somewhat addictive.
Truly unique. Any Connaisseur of electronic music should at least know it, while buying it has become a quite costly matter these days.
