Love Committee / Black Ivory - Pass The Buck / Longer Ride - 22-May-08 04:12 AM
From distributor notes: Both tracks only have slight extensions to aid the contemporary DJ. Mr Underdog said “these records are so near to perfect, that I really couldn’t do much to them, I just wanted people to hear them.”
When reading this; this question pops up: Why releasing this in the first place? These tracks ain't that rare at all, and if you don't even bother to re-edit them in way which sort of "makes them yours" this really gets the smell of an easy boot.
Shame on you mr. underdog, please be more creative in the future and show some more respect to these artists which we have a lot to thank for!
Doe Maar - Skunk - 23-Apr-08 06:15 AM
I disagree with review above. Doe Maar's sound really wasn't that of a jamaican reggae-band, and that really was what made the band that special; they sounded like NOBODY else. They way they combined reggae-influences with dutch pop and new wave really was one-of-a-kind. The slack they got (Doe maar wasn't only the most loved, but definitely also the most hated upon) was mainly due to their biggest strength; the catchiness of their songs.
The other huge motive for haters at the time was the huge boyfriend-appeal the two lead-singers had on many, many girls.
