Prodigy, The - Spacehopper - 25-Jun-09 01:11 PM
It's a shame this track never got released on an early EP.
I often wondered what sort of tunes Liam had "tucked away" and if any of them could compare to what was known.
This tune confirmed what I'd suspected...
Can't help but wonder now as to what other treasures remain buried???
A number of other early demo tracks are now common knowledge thanks to the internet... Despite this I'm not sure the exact content of Liam's 10-track demo tape has ever been confirmed???
The "What Evil Lurks" EP is definitely 4 of them... Spacehopper makes it 5... Charly is on there at least once in some form so 6 maybe 7... I couldn’t say what else is known for sure!?!
What I do know is that Spacehopper is amazing and I just wish I was one of those who got to hear it at one of their early gigs back in 1990.

DJ Spinna's remix is superb! This has to be one of the most original remixes of an already unique tune. Big up Spinna!
Big respect must also go out to Photek for his jazzy D+B rework - he is a derserved D+B legend as well all know!
Shawn J Period's take on "The Action ft. Ish aka Butterfly" also cuts it when stood up to an already excellent track.
The original versions of both these tracks can be found on their album "Two Pages" which must be mentioned - It is in all honesty awesome!
For this single hats must ultimately go off to Spinna though... Hypnotic 8-)

Orchestral Drum & Bass!!! What a groundbreaker!!!
The initial idea and then ability to deliver a final product of such quality really shows how advanced their musical ideas and abilities are... The void in class and elegance between this and any "pop" album is embarrassing!!!

I was very bored one night and managed to figure out their crazy symbols...
Track 2.7 translated as "Worlds End" if I remember correctly...

I must admit at first I wasn't 100% as I prefer a harder sound... but given a few listens I accepted, then loved it!!!

Also check their alias "Jacob's Optical Stairway"... it's not as orchestral but you can see how the sound is developing into a more liquid "Two Pages" sound as opposed to their harder earlier work.

Big up 4 Hero... loved you since "Journey II The Light"...
