Reviews & Discussion:
A killer track that is much more minimal and electronic then previous Murk records still maintains its edge for the house crowd. The repeated chorus hook gives the track a slight progressive feel at about 130 B.P.M. A definite classic in the New York City club circuit and still gets played...
This is one of the best Techno records of 2005. It has everything in place as far as arrangement and production. DJ friendly, it builds into a resonating bassline which carries the entire track into a wave of frenzy. With a good sound system, the listener will actually become part of the music and with a crowd of people on a dancefloor, it becomes apparent. If you like Schmacher/Henze/Heckmann type of tracks, this is really one for the collection.
Fans of Chicks On Speed will love this record. With guest vocals from Melissa of Chicks On Speed, "This Is For You" becomes a techno song with vocals that is pure underground genius. The Terrance Fixmer Remix is the choice cut and one of his finest ones at that. DJ Hell may have a different style these days, but this record shows his harder underground style which cannot be denied. I think you will agree.
Does anyone know that the Jeff Mills remix is not as good as Laurent's original mix? I did not even realize it until a friend had played me the original mix. I was very surprised to say the least. All the praise that Mills gets made me think the original mix? Call me crazy, but the original track is the perfect techno track which really did not need any further remixing, but I guess having a Jeff Mills remix is good for sales. I just prefer the original.
This is an excellent house record. The entire production is tight, clean and grooves from start to finish. The actual vocal samples are what makes this record a must have. That repeated "You Are Sleeping" sample has an acapella which is a good DJ tool and as most PQM productions go, they have nice breakdowns and builds. One of the finest Yoshitoshi records ever made. | ||||
