Union Jack - Pylon Pigs - 22-Sep-09 01:07 PM
What a welcome site this has been! The return of Union Jack with their new album, Pylon Pigs. For those of you who have been longing for the return of that Platipus sound (like me) reminiscent of the mid nineties then this will certainly not dissapoint you. However, it is updated and of course it comes complete with divine intervention from Paul Brogden. This is an excellent return displaying all the usual trademarks that Simon and Paul are known and respected for. Beware though, this album will get some serious rotation in your stereo, so much so, I think Im going to have to buy another copy or two just in case.

System 7 - Point 3 - Water Album - 15-Sep-09 12:15 PM
Ok, so what did your college tutor do for the last day of term? Thankfully, one of mine placed this CD in the stereo, promptly left the room and left us all to immerse ourselves in the ensuing and incredible ambient sound filling the studio. Once finished, in came our tutor - on cue and the question which was on most of our lips was who wrote that? Looking back, I think it was safe to assume he knew we would ask that question and that he was certainly pleased with himself because we did. This is inspirational music indeed and he knew it and that same day I purchased both this album and the Fire album. However, one question thats always been on my mind since was what happened to the supposedly third installment of the point 3 series - the Steam album. Im sure I read about it somewhere and my tutor at the time also mentioned its forthcoming existence...

Orbital - Peel Session - 14-Sep-09 01:10 PM
It was Friday night (10th Sept 1993); my mates parents had recently finished rebuilding their house and the lucky so and so had gained a massive bedroom complete with excellent sound system, strobe lights and hypnotic painted walls out of it. As cheesey as that may be the sound eminating from his speakers that night certainly wasnt. I was blown away by this performance by the Hartnoll brothers and became an instant convert from heavy metal to techno in seconds from it. This is where my relationship with electronic music started and what an excellent start indeed!

Evan Marc + Steve Hillage - Dreamtime Submersible - 22-Aug-09 03:01 PM
I must admit, when Somnia first launched and began releasing its output in quantities of 777, I wondered if there was a direct correlation between/ode to the System 7 project (referred to by fans from the USA as, 777). My suspicions were later confirmed whilst visiting the official website of Somnia upon release of this gem when Evan declared System 7s influence on him and his work. Whilst I dont wish to repeat earlier comments made regarding the outstanding quality of the songwriting on this disc, this is a very fitting release indeed and one Im glad that I own.

Nodens Ictus - Spacelines - 22-Aug-09 02:32 PM
This is yet another gem to be spawn from the Ozric Tentacles project. Whilst Id consider this to be more of a compilation than an artist album, the flow works brilliantly! Considering also that some of the tracks were written as early as 1986, the production, the song writing and the creativity far exceeds so much material released by other folks some 20 years later and counting. This is ambient at its best. Track this one down - you will not be disappointed.
