Profile: Collection is now really out of date. I've sold some of the stuff that's listed and purchased a load more as well.

I need to make space so will consider selling a lot of my records, especially modern house and techno. If you spot anything you like the look of and can make it worth my while then PM me and I'll have a scout for it.

I won't convert anything into MP3 for you so please don't ask.

Also, since a few people have asked, I should point out that I won't sell my 'Music from Mathematics' LP.

Reviews & Discussion:

Cerrone - Brigade Mondaine Jul 01, 2006 (edited over 3 years ago)
I've never seen Brigade Modiane, or Vice Squad as it was known in the UK, but I'm sure the film isn't as good as the soundtrack. Spacey disco with a dark and sinister edge is the order of the day. The strongest tracks are the three variations of Generique at the start of side 2, though the quality is high throughout. Worth tracking down.
I'm not an enormous Todd Terje fan, but his re-edit of the Knight Rider theme certainly hits the spot. He manages to bring out the haunting and futuristic qualities of the original without resorting to 80's nostalgia.
Coldcut - Journeys By DJ: Coldcut - 70 Minutes Of Madness Oct 31, 2005 (edited over 4 years ago)
It's hard to believe that this mix is ten years old, it left me absolutely shell shocked when I first heard it and it still excites today. Despite featuring several records at the wrong speed, all sorts of random samples, and even the Dr Who theme it never feels like it's resorting to stunts. The choice of tracks is genuinely original and unlike many 'cut and paste' mixes the whole thing flows superbly from start to finish. One of the few mix albums that can be considered a genuine classic.
Various - Music From Mathematics Oct 28, 2004 (edited over 5 years ago)
This is an innovative and extremely unusual album which came about through research work at Bell Labs in the late 50's and early 60's.

The tracks are either cover versions or compositions by scientists that are designed to illustrate the different ways in which computers can make music. The highlight is 'Bicycle built for two', which features some unusual synthesised singing!
Hieroglyphic Being - Machines For Lovers EP Oct 28, 2004 (edited over 5 years ago)
One of the strongest Spectral releases so far. This is a brilliant marriage of the modern 'glitch' style and the classic sounds of chicago house and detroit techno.
Squadra Blanco - Night Of The Illuminati Oct 28, 2004 (edited over 5 years ago)
This really is a fantastic record. Possibly the best thing that Legowelt has recorded thus far. Obviously it's heavily influenced by 70's and 80's horror soundtracks, but it stills sounds really fresh. Even on the less catchy tracks the sheer quality of the noises is quite astounding.
Recorded live, complete with trademark scratches and line switch moves, this is easily the best electro mix album you could hope to find. Clarke steers clear of the cheesy 80's revival stuff and goes for a darker sound incorporating some genuine lost classics. Releasing an electro mix album back in the mid 90's was definitley quite a bold move, but DC carries it off with ease!
Claude Young Jan 04, 2002
Claude Young is easily one of the most underrated Dj's out there. His style is totally unique, and technically he's pretty advanced, but he always rocks the dancefloor. Anyone who likes Dave Clarke, Jeff Mills or anyone else who adapts cut'n'paste style mixing to techno should check him out.
