I've noticed it is damn hard to do proper ratings. For example I could rate a record 5, because I really love one song on it, and not necessarily the rest.

Earth People - Dance - 28-Oct-08 03:20 AM
Both versions are awesome pieces of house music. Those incredible tense beats that instantly grab anyone's attention on the dancefloor and the vibrant club version with a perfect use of a sample (Motown's classic, Carl Bean - I Was Born This Way), one of Pal Joey's trademark. When the tracks comes in a mix, the hook is immediate. The mood is obviously happy but also surrounded with a bit of nostalgia.
The most memorable and effective house tracks are often the most simple ones. Thank you for your contribution mr Joseph Longo !

Mission Control - Outta Limits - 10-Sep-07 12:10 PM
Outta Limits is a big deep house classic, well sought after by record collectors and it deserves all the praise. It eventually got a promo release on Antlantic and also featured on a mini comp, also on Altantic/Big Beat.
But this track has completely overshadowed what was apparently to be the main track, "Give Yourself". It's even less designed for the club climax than the flip side, as it's quite downtempo, still it remains an excellent deep track: a crossover between, deep house, breaks, rap. Moreover, the sound is quite powerful as it benefits from being the only track on side A. A hidden gem ?

Glenn Underground - Sessions - 30-Apr-07 09:49 AM
Tech Jazz House (Part 2) is probably my favourite Glenn Underground track. It's so funky, so sexy, so deep ... GU pays tribute to his influences, disco, funk but with digital sounds. He's a master in making breaks & changing the rhythm patterns. Moreover, the production level on this record is very high, which makes it an absolute must have.

Blood Hollins - Don't Give It Up - 02-Jan-07 06:33 AM
By jove, this is really a stunning record. My preference goes to the Instrumental version which is a true underground disco masterpiece, supported by top notch musicians: hats off for the rhythm section !
You will need several listenings to fully appreciate it.

Groove Committee - I Want You To Know - 05-Dec-06 12:31 AM
Victor Simonelli did some good sampling back in the days and had a distinctive sound. Some might say it's easy ... but this is really effective on a dancefloor. He also later produced some quality garage. BTW, B1 samples Don Ray's "Standing In The Rain".
