Sprawl - Mechanic Phunk - 04-Nov-09 02:54 PM
While listening to the album id classify it as cryogenic italian electrofunk.

If you are funk-centered dont pass this on just yet. Andrea Benedetti is a known figure and accomplish in the Rome area. Involved and friends with the Finalfrontier crew, the legendary producer Lory D. and being a lecturer, journalist and DJ he made his mark for sure. Now for the funk part: it is not obviously there but listen carefully. I wouldnt categorize the album as stiff white funk nor Parliament funk style. Italian funk maybe, if such a style exists.

Somehow it does arrive as a debut. Of course Sprawl has created tracks in the passed. Just take a look at the other releases. Now for the electropart, that cannot be missed. Mr. Benedetti created several unheard sounds. Yes, the machines are on a roll. At this time of writing electrofollowers will recognize Sprawl from the track Mechanic Phunk (The Exaltic Remix), which entered the Street Sound Nu Electro chart in week 44, 2009. Keith Tucker adds a remix to the album in his usual style with recognizable K-1 beats albeit he misses the italian funkfinesse.
Although the release has this italian finesse i do have doubts if this could be Andreas best work. When i compare it with releases by for instance Marco Passarani. Metro Area or say early Derrick May my mind gets hmms and but errrs, as yours might if you happen to know them.

Cybernet Systems - The Borg E.P. - 03-Jul-09 06:18 PM
Devestating electro, definitively with miami bass and UK bass scene influences. The twelve features four tracks. Samples have been taken, with consent, from certain popular series. As heard on electro/hardcore/gabber parties...
Classic electrobass release, the first in it sorts. The soundsignatures of Phil Klein and Scott Weiser in excellent form are heard here. Any electro bass collection should have this listed. Critics state that only because of We Are Borg it is worth the purchase.

Kraftwerk - Computer World - 16-Jun-09 06:13 PM
When this was released some questions arose. First and foremost the establishment asked: How come such a band released an album in so many languages and countries?
Kraftwerk knew and acted proactive. After contemplating, consulting friends and creative thinking they re-recorded a track with french lyrics, this with the intention of a pleasant gesture towards the french audience. In fact it is in Kraftwerks direction to do this. After all one of their goals is to unite people.
The french artcritics however reacted cumbersome and quite negative. Its good to see and heartwarming that even french artcritics run beside the truth.

Other People Place, The - 28-Mar-09 06:54 PM
After long talks on the internet she finally agreed to meet in real life. Eye contact was made. A simple kiss exchanged deep emotions, awoke peace of mind, confusion and love. People on the streets noticed and looked in awe. Its your love. Impressed, in a different city a moonlight rendezvous occured. She said she want me. She said i know what i want.
Some days later the cavities of life reached out. Enough with that! Let me be what i wanna be. Suddenly she was gone. Was she running from his love? Gone? Back to earth, yet luckily there are the sunrays.

Project produced by James Stinson about a love born which prematurely ended. James died exactly one year after the release. Rest in peace.
