........................... "If Rocking The House Well Is A Crime....Then Let Me Be Guilty!" ...........................
Im currently taking a break from Djing. Most recently i have been Djing under the name of Gareth Cortez and was resident Dj for Time Flies in Cardiff. Iv played for Gatecrasher, Cream, Serious, Radio 1 events etc playing US/Funky/Tough French style house.
Back in the Early 90's i used to play Hardcore then Happy Hardcore and a bit of Drum and Bass in the middle to late 90's under the name of Dj Sadsack When i was 17 i started working in Catapult Records in Cardiff where i worked for the best part of 4 years as the Happy Hardcore/Drum and Bass buyer in which time i played for promoters such as Dance Planet, Southern Exposure, Club Kinetic, Devotion, Bristol Exposure etc. I then moved on to work/manage a DJ equipment store for 5 years which later expanded to incorporate a Cafe, Record Shop and Clothes shops. It was in this period i took up my residency for Time Flies.
Im trying to list all the records in my collection but it will be a long process! At one point i had over 10,000 records in my collection but i am weeding it down to about half of that now.
**WOULD PEOPLE PLEASE STOP ASKING ME TO RIP RECORDS TO MP3!! I HAVE SPENT MY HARD EARNED CASH OVER THE YEARS TO BUY MY RECORDS! IF YOU WANT THE TRACKS GO AND BUY THEM LIKE I HAD TO!**
LISTEN to this tape! This is a mix i did when i had just turned 17.
Like Father like Daughter! :o)

John "Julius" Knight - Find A Friend - 29-Oct-07 12:29 PM
Curiosity surrounds the reason as to why "Get Over" never got an official release. I was told by a mate of mine who was producing for Soulfuric at the time that there was a problem over clearing the vocal samples. It's such a shame as it really is one of JJK's finest works! It also means that copies of this are rare as! In my opinion "Get Over" far out shone the hugely popular "Find a Friend". "Get Over" is largely a very catchy Rhodes based track with classic Saw synth keys and the usual tight Soulfuric percussion - nothing to exciting you maybe thinking - but its the hypnotic vocals that really fuse this track together beautifully and make this something really special! All in all this is a class piece of work from JJK and any Soulfuric, JJK or quality house music connoisseurs need this!!!!

MS2 - Stay Around (For This) - 27-May-07 08:46 PM
The Eddie Thoneick Classic Mix encompasses everything I look for in a house music track. It seemed like current house music was turning into a collection of uninspiring single finger analog melodies and simple percussion but out of the swamp of the new wave of "electro house" I found a small ray of light and this track was it!
Ironically just as the new wave of "electro house" takes its influences from the early years of house music this track also takes its influences from way back when house music was all about uplifting melodies and vocals and people smiling. The piano line in this is simple yet so effective. The 64 bar breakdown pays tribute to the fact that just the pianos and vocals the two main hooks of the track can stand up by themselves for so long, until it builds into an awesome blend of solid percussion and one hell of a funk bass guitar lick!
This is a track you instantly know doesn’t need road testing you just know it will take the roof off! Thank you Eddie for showing us there is some light at the end of the Electro house tunnel :o)
Crazy P - Sun Science - 09-Oct-06 10:43 AM
"Bum Cop" is the standout tune on this 12 for me! An instantly hypnotic groove with lush piano chords and a fantastic almost ever looping wah wah guitar riff instantly put a smile on your face and is the type of track you could listen to all day! It’s very much in the Vulture and Roule records style. How this is still hidden away on the B side and hasn't been given a release of it’s own with a couple of extra mixes is beyond me! This would have been massive!!!!
Mr. Elephant - Undercover Elephant Volume 1 - 07-Oct-06 05:06 AM
I defy anyone not to appreciate the pure quality of this record! I talking about the "Mouse Mix"! The jazzy brass section played on this is just mind blowing! Blended with lush piano chords and the ever so catchy funk bass guitar makes this irresistible! Everything sits perfectly in the mix and every element within the track has its own space to breathe. If you like your house music to put a smile on your face as well as a spring in your step then this is for you! I would rate it 6/5 if I could ;0)
Jamiroquai - Little L - 03-Oct-06 11:35 AM
For me there was only one reason to own this record....and no it wasn’t for the very pretty sleeve! ;0) - it was for the Bob Sinclar remix! In my eyes this is such an over looked piece of Bob Sinclair’s' work. This is an almost total reconstruction of Jamiroquai's original, infact it’s basically the vocals that survive! A wonderfully catchy live string section, simple yet hypnotic underlying Rhodes chords and an off-beat bass line to die for made this an instant winner and packed a real punch! This never failed to bring the dance floor to life!!
