Profile: I am a 41 year old, proud dad, happily married, retired b-boy / Hip Hop Moderator / Funk Soul Moderator / Electronic Moderator - I am really upset with V4, it's totally ruined a perfect site and has completely zapped my enthusiasm to submit or moderate, i don't think i'll be spending much time here anymore, sad but that's the way it is, i just don't enjoy discogs anymore since this diabolical change, i'm sure i speak for many on here. Apologies for not moderating as much as i used to, but i always contribute in other ways. I keep submitting tho! Can't ever really leave this site, it's a challange at times but still very useful to me. I've been buying hiphop vinyl since 1980. I love the Oldschool,1979-1984 (Proper Old-School) - The Original & BEST era in Hip Hop without a doubt! Pretty much anything from the 70's & 80's was tuff! Also love '70's Funk/Soul/Breaks and Classic 80's soul / Boogie/P-Funk and Proper Disco and a little 90's/Modern Hip Hop and of course Jazz/Fusion. I think it's great to have a varied taste in music. I just have not got the passion for later hip hop the way i have for oldschool hip hop, all i really buy on vinyl nowadays is oldschool rap, funk, soul and jazz - back in the day hip hop was done from the heart and for fun - nowadays it's all about the $ , not saying there ain't good hip hop about now, but you have to dig about to find it!. Although my heart lies with the oldschool rap, i find myself drifting into the world of jazz and funk, and i'm sick to death of being told i'm neglecting the oldschool, no way! i'm just exploring new stuff, especially the jazz it's so vast. Used to be a dedicated b-boy started in 81 and retired in 90 - i really miss those days, it's good to see b-boying still around but just like the music, the old is far superior. A lot of music today is just plain garbage, it seems that genuine talent has to take a back seat to appearance, how many dudes do you see playing instruments nowadays? not many, when i listen to jazz/fusion artists from the 70's i really dig how they play so many different instruments, and they play them so awesome and it's not easy - you gotta respect these cats - Nothing in my collection is for sale, a long time ago i got rid of many gems from my vinyl collection and it was the worst thing i ever did, my friend Mrdemic (The Technic Schizophrenic) has a lot of these records that were mine and the son of a bitch won't give em back :( - we're still down tho! - i'm recapturing 'em one by one but a few i fear are lost forever..NEVER AGAIN! Some of these cuts are not even in Fred's Book, so god knows how rare they are - Besides music my other passions are my dogs (siberian huskies) I have 3 at present and may decide to race 'em very soon - these are the best dogs on earth no doubt and i've never seen such stunning beauty in an animal, also my collection of tarantulas, i love spiders especially tarantulas, these are the true kings in the spider world, only got 13 left now used to have around 30, i've been told that one of my spiders could get to the size of a 12" single....yikes! - not really into much tv except maybe 'Seinfeld' and 'Curb' and 'Coast' or any programme to do with the universe, it's mind boggling stuff, ya gotta give props to the cosmos. Also love programmes like planet earth, the blue planet etc. and any wildlife documentary, especially on wolves, sharks, tigers - how anyone can justify killing these beautiful animals is beyond me, anyone that does is sick and evil. Also find ancient egypt fascinating and anything to do with Bruce Lee (the best ever) - The sooner this 'reality' tv bollocks is over the better, what a crock, it seems that oldschool tv kicks ass, just like the music. Even though i submit a few CD's there is no argument that vinyl IS the best and i will always sub more wax no doubt, you just can't beat the fresh smell of vinyl and i will always state that a brand new 12" has a better output than any CD, in my opinion you can't have a great collection that consists of only CD's or MP3's , vinyl IS the best and always the most prized, ask any true collector of beats. Not a huge fan of reissues, i have very few, always prefer the OG but won't pay stupid amounts of dosh for 'em. No MP3 set up so don't ask! i'd rather buy vinyl and keep it alive, some people seem obsessed with MP3/IPOD, never saw the attraction myself, not really into downloading either, you just can't beat the excitement of getting the vinyl come through the door, it's like unwrapping a present, never get bored of dat! - HIP HOP Wax is NOT for sale or trade at any cost, i may sell or trade the odd house, soul or funk tune usually ones i've got doubles of. - Vinyl #1. Despite clearly stating no mp3 requests, it seems some dudes can't read or are plain stupid, I will NOT reply to anyone asking for MP3's of certain tracks, for god's sake get out there and buy the wax! and get yaself a proper collection. PEACE Y'ALL & OLDSCHOOL 4 EVER BABY! :)

Spoonie Gee And Treacherous Three, The* - The New Rap Language / Love Rap - 25-Nov-04 05:50 PM
This track is just awesome! After many years of thinking this is my No.1 oldschool 12" , it has everything to me - Pumpkin goin' wild on the congas, Kool Moe Dee in his prime and Special K & LA Sunshine holding it down, not to mention the great Spoonie Gee on the mic with some awesome lyrics. The beats are hectic, the raps are non-stop. The way these guys blend their raps together on this record is just so fresh! As soon as i heard this cut i knew it was special, it has longevity stamped on it and always sounds fresh, never dated and will always be spun on my 1200's. All you new cats pickin' up a mic, check out this record first, this is how MC'ing should be done. (Just my opinion tho!)
