Reviews & Discussion:
A2 and C2 are my favorite tracks on this release, it's that kind of Woody's Speedcore/hardcore/acid hardcore sound. I do appreciate the other tracks also, like the slower acid tracks. The first and last 1/3 sections of D2. Those sounds of The Warriors movie come into my mind, also Deader Than Esra and King Dead Acid from IFS 3, all of the tracks mentioned in this review of mine all make sense to me and sort of revolve around each other, i think, you can probably blend them all into a nice little set :) well BAD ACID NO SUCH THING is one of the best DBN releases that i've ever heard.
Bad Boy Bill - Global House Culture Vol. 4
Nov 05, 2009
This cd shows exactly what Bad Boy Bill is capable of. I am a huge fan of 90's house, this cd just adds that extra "oomph." In the opening track you really get a taste of Bad Boy Bill's rippin' just like Dj Irene, huge fan of hers by the way, he keeps the tempo and throws down track for track. All of the tracks on this cd are worthy :) Bad Boy Bill starts out with a sort of hard house theme, then goes into a soulful mellow direction. The tracks to define this are Dj Sneak's "You Can't Hide From Your Bud," Rick Garcia's "Somebody New," CTA's "Muzik" and Todd Terry's "Something Goin' On." He then finishes with some hard house like Frankie's "Surge Protector." This cd is worth listening to, can't say the same for all of this new electro so called proggressive house. But this cd took a snapshot of mid 90's house music =]
Frankie Bones - The Lot Of People
Sep 30, 2009
In a time when everybody wanted to be hardcore, Bones set out to be hardcore and get the lot of people dancing. It could also be referring to the lot of people where Bones used to play for the people in desolate lots, back in the STORM era. The lyric "Lot of people wanna be hardcore." explains it all. Bones stayed hardcore, in a joking matter though, fusing that lyric with a bouncy techno sound and laying it on the track, this track has Bones written all over it, from the beginning to the end and back to the middle. The break sounds good and it will get you moving. This song reminds me of "Refuse To Fight" and "Bell Boy" those tracks are by Bones also. I have the white label version of this record, but it's cool to decorate it however you want =]
Laura Grabb - Disk Rubble
Sep 10, 2009
Fishead makes a good point. Even though it wasn't deemed "hard enough" it still does a good job of bringing the hardcore sound. Laura Grabb's style of hardcore and acid are well represented on Disk Rubble. Side A is all hardcore while side B has a more acid approach. If you liked this record then you should listen to Industrial Strenght Anthology I The Lost Tracks. Or if you have listened to Industrial Strength Anthology I The Lost Tracks then you should listen to Disk Rubble, haha. Laura Grabb kicks ass!!!!
Beverly Hills 808303 - Asociaal Hard Op Je Bek!
Aug 30, 2009
Good acid record, as my man agent_sozio mentioned it, "Great dark hard acid record! Perfect for a bunker ;-)" haha perfect description. The first track sounds like somebody put too much of the low end frequencies onto a tape recorded version of it. The first track on the b side is also a good acid jam. Beverly Hills 808303 master acidist, haha. It's from Dropbass Network, so you know it's good =]. The folks at Dropbass always brought the best gabba, hardcore and brutal german techno when it came to their hardcore parties. Kurt Eckes is the Godfather of the midwest hardcore scene. The classic Even Furthers, ah, i can feel them cumming back ;p
This ep kicks ass!!!! I don't know what the meaning is for "EXLXAXL" but it is just such an awesome hardcore track, it'll make you want to bash your head into a brick wall. The vocal sample from Enya's song "Exile" sounds perfect as the track starts out eerily calm then goes into the darkscapes of hardcore. You can hear a woman screaming in the background, it kinda reminds you of that one song from that one band that was supposedly accused of murdering a woman in their recording studio. Or it was them recording a song, they didn't know a woman was being murdered in the studio and her screams ended up coming out on their recording, something like that. "The Outro" is just perfect hardcore, it starts out with the sound of the masses and a badass drum kick, then a piano loop comes in and some old school drum n bass kick kicks in. Sorta reminds you of trancecore or hardcore trance, what have you, it just gives you that feeling. Two of the songs from this ep come out in IFS:3 667 Neighbor Of The Beast, i just like looping parts of "The Outro" on my cdt especially when the fast drum break kicks in, I pitch bend it -16% then pitch bend it +16%, it just sounds real hardcore.
Various - Global House Diva 2: Live In Ibiza
Jun 26, 2009
The original release came with a cd for your cd rom thing, it had a video of Irene playing in Ibiza with her powerful badass set. That video was pretty cool. Irene starts off with hard house then goes into some nice house then goes into trance, especially Operatica's "Melancholy Rose" that track is so trancey and Irene just blends into it so perfectly. Towards the end of her mini trance set we are treated to a funny sounding dialogue between two of Irene's fans, pronouncing Irene as e-rene. haha. After that we hear one last trance song to finish off the set and it is Tiesto's remix of Delerium's Innocente, it sounds really nice. Then Irene mix's into Pusaka's "You're the worst thing for me" featuring Ms. Thea Austin. Irene finishes her set with a nice house vibe. This cd album couldn't have come to me at a better time, i was in seventh grade and all of these tracks spoke to me, like i wanted to show it to my friends and all of the girls that i had a crush on at the time, lol. This cd will forever be in my music collection. Dj Irene you did a damn good job in Ibiza and i wish i was there to see ya :p
Frankie Bones - Einstein e=me+3²
Jun 20, 2009
This record is one priceless piece of art. Frankie Bones' style is so unique and untimely, u can't put a time period on his style, he's always been true. The way BRAINDEAD starts is so breaky, then towards the end a happy acid flatline sound goes all out. That's the kind of sound you'd want to hear at an EVEN FURTHER or any dropBass event. The title of the record is still unclear to me, i think that the "Einstein e" means Einstein ecstacy, then the other part of the equation means Bones + nine people makes for a good party. Even though dropBass is solely a midwest thing, Bones still makes certain to keep his Brooklyn roots in check by the etchings on the record itself. This is a perfect record that captures Bones' contribution to dropBass and to Mr. Kurt Eckes and the whole midwest scene. Bones after all did want to spread the scene
Strychnine - The Utopia Project
Mar 19, 2009
I first heard this track back in 1997. I fell in love with the melodic edge that Mineo put into the track. Beautiful hardcore song. An oxymoron there, lol. A1 and A2 are my ultimate all time favorite trance hardcore tracks of all time. It's just so refreshing to hear that hardcore is not just all about harsh sounds and profanities, but hardcore can also incorporate melodies here and there, like EXLXAXL, FORGOTTEN MOMENTS, and OUTRO. Sal Mineo is my hero :)

This cd got me to appreciate the basic-ness of techno. Mixed by Jimmy Crash, known for dj'ing alongside Frankie Bones and the STORMrave crew, you have to really appreciate Crash's mixing technique, the way he mixes into "Dancing With Tears In My Eyes" is really Jimmy Crash-esque, haha. I bought this cd about a year ago and i'm still listening to it, it's a good cd to just play and listen to with friends that enjoy EDM =] | ||||
