Reviews & Discussion:
This album is a real piece of art. Having the 2 previous albums from Cursor Miner this one is for me without any doubt his best one. He left his songs with poppy vocals and "funny" melodies (with exception of "Errors In My Mind") for some more aggressive songs with still nice emotion in, the best example is the track "Exult", with a kind of trance feeling that gives you the shivers every time you listen to it.And if you thought you've heard it all, wait until you hear that "Miniminermegamix" this one will just blow you away and will give you regrets that you've never saw him live yet. So try to get your hands on this cd, you won't have any regrets about it. Keep up the good work Rob, I'm waiting for your 4th album...
Legowelt - Disco Rout Remixes
Jan 07, 2008
I don't understand why Cocoon has released some remixes of a track that is 5 years old. Beside that those remixes aren't great at all, none of the 2 remixes contains a recognizable part of the original track, it's more like Freeform Five remixes Scan X own remix from Club You. I think not much remixes will beat that Johannes Heil remix from Disco Rout. The only reason why you should buy this 12" is to have the original mix.
The first time I've heard the Joey Beltram remix was one year and a half before it was released in a radioshow by Ben Sims & Chris Finke. That track just blew me away and I had to wait such a long time to finally get my copy. I've heard people saying "oh again remixes from "You Work It"" but believe me, that Joey Beltram is the most crazy & mad of all remixes EVER released from You Work It. One of my Top 3 from 2006. |

The track on the A-side sounds a bit like Varela's own track "You Wanna Sit On This". With a rather low tempo, the track has a hypnotic effect that makes it more irritating than aggressive.
But when you flip the vinyl you will find a true gem on this release. In fact the track on the B-side is rather "simple" due to the fact it has not that many different elements on it, but none the less the track doesn't sound for one millisecond boring. The "hypnotic factor" on this track is probably the track on the A-side^10. An absolute stormer that every techno DJ should have in his bag to spin at the end of a party to make sure everybody will get exhausted and happy back home.
I do have a little complaint, the fact that the Black Codes label didn't continue on the same line as this release (or the previous Black Codes release number 1 and 2) is really a shame. I remember on the DVD from the I Love Techno - Outdoor Festival there was an interview with Varela where he spoke about a new label he'd launched and where the tenth release would be an album of him. And now almost 7 years later, still no album released. I'm even thinking that label doesn't exist anymore.
