Reviews & Discussion:

This is a rather strange piece of wax. This is the only record that got released on the Motown sublabel Weed. There's also a really good story behind this record.
When Marvin Gaye and his musicians had recorded most of the What's Going On album Berry Gordy said that they wouldn't release it because it wasn't commercial enough. The result was that Marvin and the fellows locked themselves up in the recording studio and since Motown's recording style was the "assembly line" style, it wasn't the best solution for the hit-recording company so they gave in at last.
During that time though in the studio (the snake pit), while smoking a lot of weed, the musicians and Marvin recorded this album with Chris Clark and secretely released it on the sublabel Weed.
How much of this is true I don't know, but this is the version that I heard, and I like it.
Anyway, the record is nice and smooth and Chris Clark reminds of a young Dusty Springfield, so it's rather different listening to hear her on this album instead of her uptempo hits. There's a couple of strong songs here like "One" and a good version of "With A Little Help From My Friends".
This is Swedish house-tech. One cool thing about the track "Private Eye" is that it has sampled Chaka Khans' song "I Know You I Live You".
This is a very good vocal-house track and I think this is a classic club track as well. You should have this record in your collection if you like good house music. Though this was a commercial success it's never the less an excellent track for the house puritans. A timeless track that never goes out of style.
Wow!!! This is an amazing vocal-house track. It's got a spiritual, hopeful and uplifting message. Well, you could say that the title speaks for itself. And the minimal beats by Masters at Work does this to a dance-friendly tune. For all you true gospel-lovers: Buy this record now!
One of the finest pieces of modern disco tunes. Be sure to have this if you like disco & house music. A fine vocal contribution by Sophie Ellis-Bextor who also made "Murder on the dancefloor", and an excellent sample of the salsoul disco-blaster "Love is You". There is also a fine bootleg 12"remix on this track by Thriller called "Show me the money".
Daft Punk appeared with filtered vocal tune after some invisible years, and it divided their fans into two parts. The ones who felt abandoned and left behind, and the ones who loved Daft Punk even more for their ability to move forward. I think that this track is one of the tracks that describes modern disco music best. It stays true to the roots and at the same time it takes it forward. Short and simple... It's one of a kind...

This song isn't only made for the dancefloor. After the pressing of this record they let God bless it. This is a God given track. Put this song on and have your own ceremony at home. It's got soul.
