Kamaya Painters / DJ Tiësto - Endless Wave / Theme From Norefjell (Remixes) - 31-May-08 06:43 AM
Although far from a 'noob' when it comes to trance music, recently an event make me feel like one...!

I found this 'collected works' of Kamaya painters, and listened to good old trance. Suddenly the Albion remix of Endless Wave started, and I was baffled!

The beginning reminded me of barbor's adagio, Ferry Corsten remix. At least this was a good sign, since Corsten = Albion.

The remix had me hooked from start to finish, and I got a little embarrassed that I had never heard this remix before! Almost 10 years had passed since this track, and I simply didn't know it...What a shame I thought.

Well at least I know it now, and man is it good!

Luciana Caporaso - 10-Feb-08 02:44 AM
As someone once wrote "The curse of the vocal strikes again!" for a track which previously didn't feature vocals, and in his point of view, the newly added vocals ruined a track.

Bodyrox - Yeah Yeah for me also got ruined by "the curse of the vocal". The vocals of Luciana are annoyingly pitched (by herself that is) and together with her style (shouting instead of singing) somewhat remind me of the sound a crow makes.

And what is worse, other GOOD house/electro tracks which were 'put out there on your tv', also began getting the same type of vocal (Mason - Exceeder pops into my mind).

Anyhow, I was glad the Bodyrox track was played less and less, but to my astonishment a new track appeared, again featuring the annoying vocal sound of Luciana ("What Planet You On?").

I really don't know what people like about her voice, because to me it is just plain rubbish. Don't ruin my housemusic!

Disco Boys, The - What You Want - 22-Dec-07 05:46 AM
Just one to say here really: the DJ Dlg remix is simply amazing! Heavily underrated track in my opinion, never even made it onto a compilation of any kind. Nevermind the original, the remix doesn't even remotely sound like it. I only would have liked it to be a bit longer. The remix sounds as if it has been done by the likes of Prydz or Steve Angello, superb quality stuff from DJ Dlg! If you haven't heard it yet - go check it out!

Paolo Mojo - 1983 - 17-Dec-07 07:20 AM
Well now, we have here an absolutely epic remix by Eric Prydz (once again!). Although the original itself is a brilliant piece of electronic music, the remix takes the track to a whole different level. An unbelievable 12 minutes in length, it has an hypnotizing effect, it even makes you want the track to carry on for another 12 minutes. The build-up is quite long, it has an awesome melody and it ends in utter mayhem. One of those tracks I have (sadly) never heard in a club or at parties, which is more then a pity, because these are the rare kinds of tracks that deserve to be played each day! Maybe the best track of 2006 (well, certainly in my book!).

Pryda - Muranyi / Balaton - 17-Dec-07 07:04 AM
Forget Muranyi and head on straight to Balaton! (Well, not entirely, but i'll get to that later)

Omg what a great track Balaton is, especially when the beat kicks in at about 2:20 minutes into the track. Love the 'evil-like' feel of the tune. Suddenly it gets a bit dreamy around the 5:10 minute mark, when a 'space-like melody' suddenly appears. The beat kicks in again about one minute later, and all the effects come together into one. This is the kind of track that gives me goosebumps, especially when played loud on a dancefloor.

Muranyi is quite different track, has a way more minimal feel to it, although the build up scheme is not so different from Balaton. Track starts slow, has a long buildup, finally followed by a melody and everything coming together at the end of the track. Especially like the (equally dreamy as in Balaton) melody at about 5:10 minutes into the track. I favour Balaton over Muranyi, but they are tightly matched.

Again, Prydz delivers the goods, and delivers them good.

Outstanding!
