Reviews & Discussion:

Remember this tune like it was yesterday, just picked up a new piece of vinyl to replace my old one. Nice. Real nice. Even though it's not in the spirit of rave, I always had a soft spot for the rap version, but what a mean tune!!

The b side track sounds very like early Moby. It's also very very similar to the b side of temple of dreams, messiah's much bigger follow up from 1992.

No idea who produced this but it's a massive favourite of mine. Pounding rhythm and a wicked bassline makes this tune work a dancefloor, the great lyrics are a somewhat sped up version of an acapella taken from Depeche Mode's original track.

It sounds very much of it's time. Being similar to a few of the Adam Beyer or Oxia releases of the same period. This is not a bad thing, though and it still works in a modern set as it's very stripped down.

All very well put together, and a white label to boot, it's a total mystery who made it!
Within the constraints of a vacuous society, DJ Assault struggles to assuage the dissonance he feels concerning his hedonistic ways. Will he open an existential eye on his world, or become lost within a cultural wasteland?

The question is left open by the sheer immediacy of the lyrics on this track. In the final verse DJ Assault even gives us a glimpse into his personal battle with OCD, a hint into his pained universe.

This timeless work is a gripping, intimate glimpse into one man's journey to self-actualization.
This album still to this day is my favourite DJ mix of all time. Since listening to this in 1993 I have gone right through the spectrum of dance music and although I no longer listen to trance or it's descendants I still hold this mix up as an example of how good music can sound when put together with similar tracks.

I have spent the last 13 years slowly collecting each record from this mix on vinyl.

Awesome.

I too heard the Severed heads track first of all on Tiefschwarz's Misch Masch album, and dug it so much i had to have a peice.

I managed to download the original version which i was surprised to find, was exactly the same up to the point where Joakim does the Click & Cut style edits at the end.

Awesome track and now i am a proud owner of both! YAY!

I was very excited when this album was released as it contains Alpha Wave in its Plastikmans Acid House Remix form. One of the best tunes of all time. I was so disappointed when i found it had been edited down from 19 mins to 11 mins, which for me removes the essence of the tune, the monstrous breakdown and crescendo. The other tracks on the album are pretty average and I wouldn't have bought them otherwise, paint by numbers remixing.
