Adam F & Slipmaster J / Nicky Black Market* - Part 2 - 13-Aug-03 02:41 PM
This picture disc is so attractive! On the Lucky Spin side, half the disc has a large print of the official Lucky Spin "dude" logo. I love it!
Although, I think there was a mistake in printing... the song on the side printed with Adam F & Slipmaster J (Lucky Spin) has samples of geese sounds on it, which would lead me to believe this is actually the Nicky Blackmarket track "Wild Geese." Wouldn't you think? Oh well - I suppose this makes it all the more unique!
Nice old skool tracks, indeed.

What a beautiful album. It elicits very deep, often lonely emotions... but a nostalgia you cannot resist. I am continually amazed at how emotionally powerful the synths are... and the sounds themselves, not just the notes and chords.
The style, by the way, is actually trance - not techno.

This label started developing a lot of personality at about release #40, with The Sentinel's "Heavy Vibes / Pulse Of Life." At this point it became a great podium for moody and beautiful melodic jungle. The tracks put out at this point were thoughtfully composed songs, a lot containing emotive melodies utilizing the moody, mellow Rhodes synthesizer. Several of my most favorite "intelligent" jungle tracks were put out by this amazing label, among them The Sentinel's sexy and dreamy "Genesis."

The first 3 tracks are all breaks songs that sound exactly alike, but "Compressed" is a really nice, subdued trip-hop track that makes this release worthy to me.

Rap's drum'n'bass Roller Remix is well worth buying this record for, despite the presence of the other two, extremely crappy remixes. The Roller mix has really thick, almost multi-dimensional bass sound. Very very phat. I never get sick of it.
